Thanks Rudy, just ordered Punch Out! Smilie

TGC is a great site, but there have been some cases of them doing what GAME does and resealing 'new' games with their own film seal instead of the official Nintendo one. This potentially can mean the Club Nintendo card not being present. This can be the case with older games that have been out a while, and less likely with recent Wii U games.

That said, the low prices of such games usually far outweighs the issue. Not a common thing with TGC I don't think, but still worth pointing out. GAME is the real abuser of this, and ships very badly damaged games, and lists them as 'new.' I try to avoid giving any money to GAME at all these days.

I can't order from them, they won't take my prepaid mastercard :'(.

Cubed3 Limited Staff :: Review and Feature Writer

Oh damn. You don't have any other payment methods? I know quite a lot of Europeans buy from TGC.

Our member of the week

No I don't. There's Paypal but I stopped using it because it takes DAYS to transfer money to it to use on purchases and it's a pain in the ass if I have to transfer money to it all the time just for that one single website. I got a mastercard specifically for online payments and yet it doesn't work everywhere :/. I can order from other websites with it just fine, it's only them so far... and Paypal itself that won't let me register my card my own account.

EDIT: I'll try a second time though because there's something fishy about what they say are the possible reasons my payment didn't process normally.

I don't fully know the ins and outs with PayPal, but I don't ever need to transfer money into it. It seems to just link directly to my bank account and takes it straight out when I buy something. Don't know if you somehow linked it to your bank you might not need to transfer money in and wait days for it to happen.

Our member of the week

Yeah but to link it to your bank you must link to your Paypal account a credit card that's tied to a bank account in the first place... and mine is not, it's a prepaid one. To have a non-prepaid master card, it's much more expensive per year with my bank (and not as secure either). I prefer a prepaid solution so that if my card gets stolen, only the amount I charged on it in the first place will get stolen, and not all my money on my bank account Smilie.

I ordered again. it still says pending, but we'll see tomorrow what they say. I think the problem might have been i didn't input correctly the name that's on the card, and so it would have refused the payment. It might have been a mistake on my own part.

Cubed3 Limited Staff :: Review and Feature Writer

Makes sense - much safer using prepaid. If you still have issues, I'll see if I can ask anyone else if they have had the same problems and got around it.

Our member of the week

from what I read on their website, it's because they use security measures to prevent fraudulent payments, with a system called Sagepay, which I haven't seen on any other website before and the card being prepaid may seem curious to the system, such as my name not matching the one on the card, or my billing adress not matching the address on the card (there's no address tied to the card, since it's prepaid, and almost anonymous). So all these might factor in with payment rejection. It's still very inconvenient though :/.

I know someone who used to work at GAME who specifically did this with preowned games. I've never really heard it with "New" purchases though. I've noticed GAME tend to ship European copies of games from their website. Noticeable with Nintendo products because they have the purple triangle in the corner of the binder of the case instead of a green one indicating it's from the UK.

GAME do tend to be overpriced but from time to time they do have a good deal on or two.

I've encountered Sagepay a few times, namely with booking flights and a few other websites.

Can you not just get a standard debit card? I don't understand why European (non British) banks make the banking system so over complicated and expensive! I think that Brits have it quite easy when it comes to things like this!

^Yep, that's what I mean. They reseal used games and list them as New on their site, when they're not new at all. I've been on the receiving end of this a few times, and others have posted pics of severely damaged used products after buying a listed New item from GAME. It's an awful retailer. Was glad when my local one went out of business.

TGC does also sell games from different countries, but they specifically detail which region it is, e.g. Australia, Nordic, etc.

I do have a standard debit card, but British websites won't allow me to pay with it, that's the thing. On british websites my only options are credit cards and paypal. full stop.

European countries use the Maestro norm for debit cards and apparently no British website that I have witnessed so far accepts Maestro. Or they advertise that they do but they don't accept MY card for some reason, because no European countries ever issue Maestro cards with control numbers on the back, since that security measure is supposed to already be obsolete all over the world. Websites that do advertise it and actually support it seem limited to countries which use Euro as their currency (And Switzerland is a lucky exception for me).

I put my order down at TGC a third time now... and it doesn't seem to be rejected this time, it as indeed me not inputting my holder name properly (which is... not my name but a cryptic name used by my bank to identify my card to others). Anyway I'm keeping my fingers crossed for now, as it is still listed as "pending" but we'll see. Sadly, for the few minutes while I was making my third attempt, NSMBU was listed back at 17.95 instead of 13.95... just a few minutes later it was re-listed at 13.99... FUMING LADS !!! I hope they don't charge me the difference, and I can get it at the discounted price !!

Failing that, Rudy, I don't know if Play (£14.99) or ShopTo (£13.85) ships to you.

Oh, the Play one is through ShopTo anyway, but might still ship to you.

Well now that it's ordered, along with my Bit Trip Complete, i'm not going to cancel my order. Too bad Smilie. Hopefully if it works, then they might lower their price inside my order. If it ends up not working like the first time around, I'll try on Shopto, I already ordered from them, they accept my card without any problems and ship to me too!

Actually now I'm kinda hoping it'll fail, cause I can't cancel my order myself anyway, and I see shopto have interesting deals on Batman Arkham Origins and Assassin's Creed IV which I'm also after.

EDIT: Haha, lol, just as I say that, I get an email saying my payment was rejected for the third time XD. Screw them Smilie. I'll just order from shopto. Thanks lads Smilie !

Those are some cracking deals Az!

Rudy, feel sorry for ya bro! The UK used to use a maestro system across the banks but from what I remember they swapped them out for Visa Debit cards a few years back. I think Halifax (bank in England) were the last ones to be offering Maestro cards. I remember this because I used to book a lot of flights with EasyJet and they didn't use to charge for maestro, so I went looking for one but it was just not worth setting up another bank account for.

Any reason why you don't just get a credit card? I don't really want you to divulge your financial life on here because that would be being too nosey but credit cards aren't all evil! I tend to use credit cards for everything and pay off the bill in full every month. I just use it as I would use a debit card. As long as you have self control and don't change your normal spending habits then I can't see why it's not an option.

Any way, I know your pain about having limited retailers, I'm in Australia at the moment and the only place that really sell games are eb games and JB-HI Fi , however I actually find them quite cheap.

Eb games have brand new games on sale as part of their Christmas sale.

All games are for the 3DS

Scribblenaughts unlimited ($18) , Scribblenaughts DC ($23)
Paper Mario Sticker Star ($36) Mario Tennis ($36) , Metal Gear Solid 3D ($18) , Epic Mickey ($18)
Bravely Default ($47) plus a load of 1st party games are going for $47 , worth checking out! (I would link you to them but I'm doing this from an ipod so I can't be arsed)

Lucky eb games are much cheaper than GAME! (Just for reference the Aussies minimum hourly wage is $16.60 so you can see how these games are now actually quite cheap!)

I don't have a job at the moment and don't want to launch myself in owning a card for which I might not always be able to pay (because banks usually charge you fees for simply having one). And with that prepaid one, you pay upfront for a whole year of usage, and you're not bothered with any fees for making payments with or anything, so that suits better my needs at the moment.

And the other reason is that a prepaid one feels more secure for me, if I lose it, there's no danger of it being used to rob me of all my money because only the money charged on it could be lost forever, and I never charge it with more than what's necessary. And so far I have not encountered too many places that refuse it too, so thats not too bad.

Anyway, I ended up getting NSMBU, Assassin's Creed IV and Batman Arkham Origins, all for Wii U, from Shopto, all three for £60 with shipping included, which wasn't so bad, so this little setback ended up making me find other good deals Smilie. Postal services were on strike in Belgium yesterday though I still haven't received them Smilie.

Also the Royal Mail tracking system in UK was going bananas yesterday, it marked my package as being delivered somewhere in Latvia o_O !!! But our local tracking system assures me it's being processed over here, and Shopto told me Royal Mail are experiencing technical issues, so that put my worries to rest Smilie.

You're welcome : )

Although you really, really, really shouldn't be starting the series at ME3 :/ Nevertheless, hope you have a good time with it. Time for me to replay the series again soon. I seem to play through it at least once a year. Can't get enough of it.

Tales of Hearts R £22.97

Yaiba Ninja Gaiden Z PS3/360 £5.86
