well it is up at lats but what do you think?

I prefer the old one, it was less cramped/busy. C3 beats it hands down.

Is anyone else having problems with it? I cant post, it says the "host i am trying to send information from is invalid".

I think the new features are just standard forum things. The Who's online bit is average as you can't really see who's online without having to go into that page, whilst on here it's a popup. It's way too pumped up with "new features" to be decent.

Also, the use of a CGI based script rather than mySQL (database) and php lets it down in terms of speed/backups.

I bet that it, as usual, will be offline at the end of each month. Typical.

I hate it!
The old one was prehaps too simplistic and didn't have enough features. But the new one has gone to the other extreme - and its way too complicated to use. I can't go on anymore, its unusable.

Cubed3 Member

exactly what is was thinking. The new forums makes us appreciate what JB has done here even more. It works almost 100% of the time and has a great combination of simplicity and features. Also you can actually post which is always a bonus.

This whole website blows Totalgames.net out of the water! This is the place where I go for news/previews/reviews/forums - not totalgames.net.

Think about it; someone is probably being payed quite a bit of money (we're talking thousends) for designing/maintaining totalgames.net. Just goes to show, dosn't it - you don't need money, you just need passion. Cubed 3 is made by videogame fans, which is much better than people who are payed lots of money to do it - aren't I right?

i still cant post on TGN so i think i will stop using it as the forum was the only thing it was good for. Its a shame that it came to this tho.

Once more "all hail JB"

Innit! CGI based boards are so yesterday! Smilie

I reccommended changing to php/mySQL based boards - VBulliten, phpBB or even Invision, but I was just ridiculed by 1/2 their spammers. Smilie Smilie

well you are right JB. This is the best site that i have seen for this sort of thing. It is better than all the ones done by the big companies. It does all that it should, and is quick and only has downtime when changing servers. Well done JB. You have done what needs to be done, and you excelled at it.

Cubed3 Member

well I think you haven't given it a chance. First off you can customise the way you see it. You don't need the have the frames on and it's far better without them.

You can chose the colour scheme, post displayed per page, etc. The defaults are stupid I admit that. That's why I have the frosted colour scheme and 50 posts per page. It's far more colourful that cubed 3 which looks pale.

And it's not slow at all. I've experienced no problems.

I liked the old version as well, simple yet had too many bugs to sort out. But this new one isn't worse it's just different.

I like the customisation you can give it, but it is still very new. I will say it's quite restrictive as well, only 200 characters in a sig. I understand 200 letters can be annoying by URL's are overall quite long.

I just can't get along with it, not at all Smilie

I refuse to visit high-traffic forums anyway - more than so many posts per day get too much and you can't reply to anything (and your posts don't get read because they are watered down with others). Forums like here and Nintendo HQ are perfect because you can come on in the morning, post something, then come back and have a few replys (no more than 5 usually) that you can reply to all of them individually. You get much better discussions that way.

The only reason why I visit TGN is for the Games TM forum which is also low-traffic - but that isn't up and running yet!

Cubed3 Member

i tried giving tgn a chance, many times. but the fact that i cant post or do anything other than sign in is a bit of a problem.

Cubed3 Member

I think that it's actually better than the old one, but thats only because i could never post on the old one. Smilie Smilie

Cubed3 Member

well whenever i try to post in this one i get the message:
