Hmm - I think they can do better in some areas graphically where Nintendo themselves are concerned.
IMO some of the backgrounds in titles are a lot poorer compared to some of the far nicer looking character models. Granted backgrounds tend to be far bigger than characters themselves, but nice looking environments can really help bring a lot of character/feeling to a level/area/dungeon.
It's just really cringe-worthy looking at shoddy 2D tiles/gratings that ruin the niceness of a scene. It seems like a few are getting the hang of things though, Pokemon Battle Revolution does look very nice as Marzy said above, it's smooth, has nice animation and models along with some better looking backgrounds over last gen. Even smaller titles like MP8 seem to have a good step up from their GC predecessors.
I hope the PS2 ports will cut down and Wii specific titles will begin to shine and show the full potential of the machine. Funilly enough I wish there were less games on the Wii, I'd rather a publisher (cough Ubisoft cough) release 2/3 good games in a quarter as opposed to 6/7 lazy ports with Wiitack.
I don't expect some GoW level of graphics from the Wii, but would expect some nice, clear characters and backgrounds.
Developers should really get their finger out - the Wii isn't a powerhouse, but can handle some good visuals and effects. Sure, control is the main focus here, and you'd find a legion of fanboys ranting on about gameplay over graphics, but gameplay certainly aint the sole part of a game - well, unless it's a sound-only game.
