UH OH! Laptop problem.. again

I don't think its been over a week yet, but since restoring my laptop to its factory settings, earlier this week it decided to break down on me AGAIN. This time however it's just the screen... and it's all grey. Can't see anything. I presume the screens just gone.. but why? Am I just really unlucky? I don't think there's anything wrong with the computer itself because I was playing around seeing if I could navigate without the screen and I was getting the sounds like what happens when you log on to your user and stuff. I wouldn't rule out there being a problem with the computer because this all seems too good to be true, sorry.. too BAD to be true!!! Any suggestions besides finding the warranty?

Is it actually displaying grey or just not turning on?

I'll just turn it on and it will be this grey colour, it sounds as though it is working just not displaying anything on the screen. Tried putting the recovery disk in and that doesn't do anything, I've got a warranty until next Feb so I guess that's good but would it if I could fix this myself. I want my lappy back.

Sounds like the connection to the screen or the screen itself is deaded. Off to laptop hospital!

Just the worst luck considering what has just happened, fucking laptop.

don't know much about laptops...but is there a port you could use to connect it to a normal screen to see if its working?

My sister's lappy screen died some time ago, but she could still hook it up to a monitor. Might want to try that to recover any important files or backup stuff before you send it off to be fixed.

Air on the side of precaution man. A computer is not a toy its a living thing!

Ah-Hem, Diagnosis.. Possible broken screen or connector or screen has been disabled by accident.
Prescription... Allow the computer to boot, us sounds as your indicator, now look at your F-Keys look for a function of your f-key which looks like a laptop sideways and a box

Otherwise, hook up an external monitor. If an image is displayed [likely> then before you start recovering data go to your display settings and see if your laptop screen is noticed [ie look for anything teling you you have 2 monitors. If so try to enable your laptop monitor.

if none of the above works send it off for repair under warranty.
