Pokemon: Cubed3 Tournaments

Okay, seeing as the other Pokemon thread is more about discussion than battling, this thread is dedicated to only battles, hopefully leading to a C3 tournament.

The game is not realeased in the UK until later this month, and I appreciate that a lot of people are not importing for whatever reason, so due to this, if a tournament is announced it will not take place until early August at the earliest.

So why make this topic now? To get some ground rules sorted and clear up some issues.

Who can enter?

Anyone can enter any Wi-Fi tournament on Cubed3. There is no discrimination against anyone who wishes to play with the rest us, no matter what. However, if a situation arises in which the 'host' of a tournament loses confidence in you, or you break any rules, you may be barred from this particular tournament. THIS IS NOT TO SAY THAT YOU MAY NOT USE CUBED3'S WI-FI FEATURES, THIS THREAD IS IS NO WAY ENDORSED BY THE ADMINISTRATOR. It just means that people may not want to play you in future on the Pokemon game.

Are there any rules that have to be stricly abided by?

The game itself allows for different rules, and on Cubed3 we generally don't bar anything. However, if an official tournament is arranged (bear in mind I would most likely not be the host of this), some rules may be put in place to allow a fairer game. We do not expect you to argue with the hosts of these matches, if you don't like, you don't have to participate. These rules may include things such as banning legendary Pokemon or Pokemon over a certain level. It should be remembered though that there is a function which allows Pokemon to be automatically boosted to either Lv. 50 or Lv. 100, though this may not always be used.

What do I get for participating?

The Wi-Fi area on Cubed3 is mainly used for leisure, but sometimes prizes may be won. These 'prizes' would only be things such as Cubed3 stars, and will only be 'won' if the host specificially says so at the start of the tournament. It is possible a league table could be added in future, and other prizes may be won in official tournaments, but only if Cubed3 decides to, and you must remember that this is not up to anyone but the administrator.

Unofficial Tournament

Gym Leader Promotion Tornament hosted by Robsy

Minimum Number of Participants: 8
Maximum Number of Participants: 16

Six Pokemon maximum
No Legendary Pokemon
Maximum Lv. Pokemon: 100
Lv. 100 boost may be used if you wish

Prizes: 'Gym Leader' Status (Top 8 Seeds only)

In this tournament, we are looking for 8 people who would be willing to stand as 'Gym Leaders'. You would be put against random people in a relatively small event, and if you came out being one of the Top 8 winners you will be allocated a 'Cubed3 Gym Leader' position.

A 'Gym Leader' position basically entails you selecting one Type of Pokemon to use, and other people may challenge you to matches. When challenged, you may not back out, unless it would be impossible for you both to get online at the same time.

- A varied range of types of Pokemon can be used in this tournament. It is only when (if) you become a Gym Leader when the types you may use are restricted.

- If you reset in this tournament, you automatically lose.

- Only the Top 8 winners of this tournament will become Gym Leaders. Even if you beat a Leader, you may gain a prize (that's up to the leader) and a badge, but you cannot become an official Gym Leader yourself.

- Only one type of Pokemon per Gym Leader is allowed. All 8 Gym Leaders will have different types. However, if for example the Ground-type Gym Leader had a dual Ground/Steel type, that is acceptable.

- If you reset your game against a Gym Leader, you risk being blacklisted, and further Leaders will not be obliged to fight you.

- You may challenge a Gym Leader once per week.

- No whinging if a Leader has a social life and simply can't make it online at that time, provided you are informed beforehand.

As the host, my decision is final in this tournament.

Plese now list your names and the type of Pokemon you would use IF you became a Gym Leader.

Do so in the format:

[Name] - [Type]

The same type cannot by two different leaders, so please select a type that has not already been listed. If the person with the type you would prefer to use goes out the host may allow you to change Pokemon types.

Once the enteries stop coming, or when we get to 16 people max in, I will close all further entries. The tournamet will take place on an as of yet undisclosed date, but most probably will be played towards the end of July to allow more people to obtain the game.

You may put your name down if you do not yet own the game, but know you are going to get it as soon as it is released in the UK.

i'll join if i may be a leader using no specific type, i havn't EV trained any pkmn yet only just figured out how to do it so i'll get wiped out so im interested, could have done with using legends bcoz my normal 1s suck lol but oh well im up for losing

Having gym leaders on C3 sounds fantastic!

Each Gym Leader should give out badges to those who beat them and have them appear in their sigs.

I don't want to enter the tournament. I'd rather just be a normal trainer and have the challenge of defeating all 8 gym leaders. Being a gym leader would be too much responsibility.

How about a C3 Elite four further down the road? Or even a C3 Team Rocket? C3 Miltank Farmer? C3 Lass?

Yeah, serebii.net has a similar system too, but the forum is a lot bigger & slower than C3, with tons more members, so it's pretty confusing, & I would have prolly joined some kind of gym leader club on there if it wasn't so big & confusing

I've just remembered that I'll be at a friends during Diamond's release for Nottingham Pride and I doubt I'll get much time to play the game for a week or so after that so It'll tough training quickly for the tournament.

i've never had a problem with drifloon, was standing there when i came out of the wind works the first time i tried before even know he was a weekly event thing, just lucky really, saying that i caught 2 female combees in a row aswell, happy days.

I got a female combee quite easily too, also Aipom was the first tree Pok

yeah that is unlucky hope the scumbag pays for it. i've got pokerus on diamond, and i got a shiny charmander off ZSimon with pokerus for a shiny chikorita, i've never had a shiny since silver i did a bit of wheeling and dealing on serebiis wi-fi chat lol paid off i love my black charizard..

p.s which reminds me if anybody can help with EV training plz do here or pm me, ive read up on it on gamefaqs but im still blank, i understand it just sounds really hard, anybody no any gd spots for EV training charizard and which stat. thanks.
Back to the forum topic i'm available to challenge or host, especially if i could be special and use legendaries which will get battered anyway

Hi, just updated it, we've now got four people.

sasukefan and Ifrit, you need to state your Pokemon type. Ifrit, I will leave the tournament until about mid-August now (I'm holidaying ), so that should defintely give Uk'ers more time to improve.

Aganhim, I'm afraid it's no legendaries. I havn't EV trained any Pokemon yet either, I don't think it's common around C3 really, so you could still enter with your normal ones?

I'm thinking August 16th maybe for the tournament to be held? Of course, it could be held over multiple (preferably consecutive) days.

But yeah, please guys, don't forget to also post up your preferred Gym type.

I wonder if I'll have the game back by then...

I should try to get a position as a Gym Leader when/if & get it back/again.

Plus today i am officially the luckiest pokemoner EVER.

I start off by getting te lucario egg from iron island. walk to old mansion (so the egg can hatch) then go battle rotom....and its SHINY!!!!I'm like OMG!!!!...Didn't miss my chance and managed to catch it with my first premier ball.Then walking in the wild i manage to come across ANOTHER shiny pokemon...Skormony on route 227...then when my lucario egg hatched...guess what?...it was shiny!

EDIT:Actually i'll be steel type.
