Well to be fair, Kirby sucked major ass in Melee.

Also same with Young Link. He was "really bad" in Melee but there was no other character I did as well with.

And I personally think that Ike, Pit and MetaKnight are much more annoying than Sonic. I don't find any of them that annoying anymore; mostly just Ike.

ARgh at the Ike, Pit and Metaknight players online. Ike is just tank and with lag present, he is even more deadly. Very strong, very annoying. Pit and Metaknight both have insane recovery so they won't just dieeeee and also their rapid attacks. Ahhhh...

Zelda ftw! You will all get "electrified" by my lightning kicks. <3

Rule #14134 of Smash Bros: You will ALWAYS trip into Ike's F-Smash, even if there is no Ike playing at the moment

Ike is a beast in 4 player combat. Really. It's not even funny. I was watching my friend play on Wi-Fi and one of the players got 8 smash kills.Smilie

I was convinced that either Pit or Meta would be one of my mains when I first started playing but now I hate them. R.O.B. his <-A-> has some distance, I think I\'m falling in love with him, his Final is ok but it\'s not as good as Landmaster thats the only thing holding me back from him being my main.

I hate Ike Ifind him was too slow when compared to Marth.

ROB\'s FS is great if you\'re good at tech chasing. ROB is another character that a lot of people find annoyoing. My bro mained him for ages so I know him pretty well, his nair can make him really hard to hit.

EDIT: Actually to be completely honest I\'ve never fought a MetaKnight main.

Smilie got my ass whooped by luigi on normal. Have to play again to get him unlucked, argh! Smilie

well, uhm, let's say I suck... LOL!

Cubed3 Member

I dunno just the thought of playing as Meta and Pit was SO COOL, that wore off a few hours into the game.

Cubed3 Member

Hmmm I reckon Brawl is a lot more balanced than melee. In melee there were a few that stood out to be exceptionally good/bad, not so much the case for Brawl.

ModeratorStaff Member

I definitely agree, except for Yoshi in Brawl, who seems awful all around, and MetaKnight who might be too too good.

Am I the only person who has never had, and never intends to have a 'main' character? Playing with one person all the time was just boring. In Melee I played with Roy ever so slightly more than anyone else, but that usually just meant using him for 2 fights instead of 1 before switching, like with everyone else >.>

Instead I'll give my list of shitty characters that I'll never use if I can help it. So far it's:
Yoshi
Link
Shiek (Though I hate her less than Melee. Also, you people are insane, Zelda was always better than Shiek Smilie )
Snake (What the FUCK were they thinking)
Olimar
Probably R.O.B...

I've not actually used Wario or Game and Watch though, so I've got no idea about them, and I haven't used Lucas or Ness enough to decide... Ness feels a bit too weak and Lucas feels really powerful, but too slow

Still a proud member of the 'omfg amazing water in games' society

but meta knight feels sooooo smashable Smilie

Really satisfying to send him flying Smilie

ModeratorStaff Member

Nah, Sheik was total ownage/broken in Melee. And Olimar and ROB are both great, I guess they're not for everyone though.

Also it's only a matter of time before everyone starts bumming Snake because if he'll end up top tier. Although I agree, there are so many other characters who would be a better choice to put in. TBH I love to see Snake talking about other characters though; David Hayter is awesome.

And yeah, a lot of people do main "Random", and I didn't even think about deciding a main for a good month or so after I got Brawl.

Well, for competitive play, you might want to stick with a main, and one or two as an alt. Mainly so you won't get movesets, controls etc. confused with any other things. Plus, I feel way more comfortable playing with a character that I think is balanced in my eyes.

Meta too good? I don't think so, I find it hard to send oppenents flying with him. I think Snake and R.O.B are too good though. You have to be able to master one character, you can't master them all.

ModeratorStaff Member

Meta isn\'t great for KO\'s but nearly all his aerials have lagless landings, his throws have huge priority and are really good too, and he\'s generally quick and has a great recovery.

Also Meta\'s aerials are pretty good for KOs anyway; as well as being quick as hell.

I think I'm going to do all my brawls from now on in slow motion, so as to train for online......

Cubed3 Member

I seem to be playing a much larger variety of characters in Brawl than Melee. I mean even when I had only gotten Melee, I sticked to the ones I knew, and well only had a handful that I could use proper. Now I am switching characters ever so frequently.

Cubed3 Member

I love Meta. I don't care what anyone says. He's not broken, nor unbalanced, just early on he's the easiest to play well as. You try to play captain falcon at a tournament and do well against a Metaknight. It's tough. The reason isn't because metaknight is buff, OP, or broken. It's because he is designed to be easy to play. Characters, in my experience, that I have had problems with...

Marth
Ike
Rob
Olimar
Wario
Fox
Falco
Wolf
Link
Toon Link
Snake
Pit

Mind you, the Fox/Falco/Wolf may not seem that great against him, but those are mains of my friends, so they play them very well. Attacks that have the ability to stop any of his specials...

Falco

Lazer, fsmash, dair

Fox

dair, bup

Wolf

Lazer, fsmash, dair, bside, bup

Marth

Sword in any direction, counter, IE ANYTHING CAN GO THROUGH MK'S specials

Rob

Lazer, top, all smashes, all aerial smashes, EVEN BEEN GRABBED OUT OF TORNADO.

Olimar

All smashes, throwing a purple pikmin with bside, and I have been GRABBED OUT OF TORNADO AS WELL BY OLIMAR.

Link/Toon Link/Pit

All projectiles make them unapproachable, and all of their smashes have the ability to womp the timing of metaknight's approach and smashes.

Snake

Projectiles, ledgeguarding, needs to be at 180% before I can even think of killing him with a smash, etc...

Not broken. If you are playing against an MK who beats you all the time, get over it. Learn a way around. Counter-picking is very important. If a friend always plays MK, stop playing C.Falcon/D3/P.Trainer/etc... against him.

Jeez, I did it again.Smilie

I know what you mean, I think it\'s because of the balancing, a lot more characters feel really usable, and there are lots of them too. Somehow they\'ve made them all more fun to play as aswell.

Also I think Smash Bros has a tendancy to get you into series\' aswell, rather than you just playing as a character because you like their series. For example, FE finally made it to the west because of Melee, and Smash Bros also got me into Kirby and Kid Icarus.

EDIT: MK not broken? I\'m not pro level and you may not be either, but try telling that to Smash Boards.

I'll admit, Meta-Knight when faced with a casual/noob player, he equals as an overpowered character.

But when faced against a very skilled player, he does not.

Ness is the strong one Lucas is the fast one, but only when talking about standard attacks.

Ness= PSI(Special KO&fighter) Fast up&down smashes, slow side smashess. Powerful specials, KO aerials (more likely to KO someone with an aerial in the middle of stage) Ness\' up/side tilt attacks can also be used to KO opponents. The down tilt is used for tripping giving opportunity for a forward smash. Ness\' PSI magnet is generally weak when compared to Lucas\' since it Heals less and has an ending push that can slightly pushe back the opponent and items. Very few enemies are affected by the PSI push.

Lucas= PSI(Recovery&Smasher) Powerful but slow up&Down smashes, fast side smashes Multi striking aerials(More likely to KO someone with aerial from side of stage)
Lucas\' up/side tilts are mainly used to break up the anarchy of Brawl but at times can be used for a quick KO off the top or side. The down tilt is the same with Lucas as it is with Ness (as soon as they trip send out a side smash) Lucas\' PSI magnet can heal more than Ness\' and rather than a PSI push toward the end of release it use\'s what I like to call PSI sting. The ending attack of Lucas\' PSI magnet can become helpful when your opponent has reached dangerously high levels of damage.

When faced against a very skilled MetaKnight player he does too. Smilie

Ness is amazing. Ness' aerial game is just so fun, and landing a combo'd PKT2 is just so satisfying. He has an amazing spike, his uair and bair are awesome, nair is a good combo finish and fair is a good approach. His throws are beastly, and I don't use smashes much, so I love him.

Also, I don't main Ness. He's my alternate. I main Marth, but I would main Ness if I was better at recovering and he couldn't get infinite'd.Smilie

I have to admit that Meta-Knight is broken, he can jump too many times which make him good at stooping you getting back to the ledge. His down smash is also overpowered.
