Retro Goodness

Hello fellow gamers, OK Ive searched the forums and I don't think there is another TOPIC about this!

So lets talk about RETRO GAMES, we all have out favourites and those games will have a place in our heart, all of us have stories and memories about retro games that we played when we were so young and tender!

Most of us now and then in a forum post say "AH I WISH THEY WOULD REMAKE THIS GAME"

So it got me thinking after i saw the BIONIC COMMANDO videos,

What games do you want to be remade again and brought to he 21st century?

As many of you know or not... I AM a huge fan of METROID series and one that springs to mind and a game that i love is "METROID 2 RETURN OF SAMUS" I don't know how many of you played this game but this game is full of RETRO GOODNESS it came out on the GAMEBOY in black&white and it was AWSOME, the adventure was awsome and the difficulty was perfect it is one of the AAA games of the GameBoy! I would love if Nintey or should i say RETRO made thid game for either the GBA or DS and none of that touch screen mumbo jumbo!
This game would be so awsome in full colour 2D greatness, i want the game to be remade exactly as it was excluding the b&w!
Actually i would bet some money that most of you haven't played this game so if they made a REMAKE you know it's gonna sell like hotcakes and all the new fans that Nintey have made with the PRIME series are gonna buy this game thinking it's a new game instead of a remake!

A retro styled Megaman 2D platform shooter on Wii. I want the pixels emphasized like in Super Paper Mario with some enemies. I would also like to see Strider from Capcom return also, as well as some new additions to the SF series, perhaps 4.

I have loads of games I want to see return, I will have to get back to this thread once I write a long list.

They announced Street Fighter 4 today did they not?

I am against remakes, but if it had to be done... original Starwing. That was sex back in the day... just make sure they make it longer too.

Yeah Starwing. The original and the best.

Stunt Race FX would be great to see remade. I loved that game.

Body Harvest would be a good game to remake too.

I've heard a lot of good things about Chrono Trigger (that how you spell it?) Maybe that deserves a 21st century reimagining

Superman 64. Now that's a game that needs to be remade, from the ground up.

Or buried in the Desert, with Atari's E.T.

Metroid II is better than Metroid Prime 2 by a long shot, simply because it's 2D.

2D Metroids > Everything

So, just like Nintendo did last gen with Metroid Fusion & Zero Mission....PLEASE make Metroid 5, whatever the "Dreaded" subtitle will be, & remake Metroid II. PLEEEAASE. It's the only 2D Metroid without that perfect Super Metroid game-play ;-(

Apart from that, I would like Final Fantasy VI to be remade on DS in 3D, I think Square would do it, but they're running out of time. Remaking an FF game in full 3D shall take longer than porting them to GBA... so after FFIV, Square may only have enough time in the DS' lifetime to make 1 more FF game in 3D...

I agree completely that Metroid II should get a remake. I still get out my Gameboy and play it from time to time and a nice colorful remake would be awesome. Of course, if a remake of Metroid II did well it would lead to the inevitable remake of Super Metroid. Of all the games that don't need to be remade, that one tops the list. You just don't mess with perfection.

I don't think Super Metroid will be remade. It'd be a port if anything, perhaps it could be included with the Metroid II remake.

After I get a bit more money, & maybe a job, I should bag myself a copy of Metroid II, it's the only Metroid I don't own, & it's still really good. The only game with the entire Metroid life-cycle in it, epic/fascinating stuff.

Yeah i want Metroid 2 to be remade same as Metroid: Zero Mission... as people in the business would say "ENHANCED REMAKE" I wanted it fully coloured with some added extras just to give it that little bit of OOOMMPH!
BUT don't touch SUPER METROID... that my friends is gaming heaven!

Even in this day & age.

I played it for the very first time when it came out on the VC last week... oh how excellent it was, how I enjoyed it all the way through, how I wished it would never end... alas, it had to end. All good games end. 3D Spin off series' never end though. (Or at least that's what it seems like)

How can a series of 3 3D Metroid games go past in 5 years, while the proper 2D series has had 4 games in the last 20 years... *boohoo*

tbh Josh, I couldn't stand super metroid. It was obviously an almost direct remake of the original, just with better graphic and bigger gameplay.

And I found the controls the worst of the lot.

I think the fact that 3 primes in 5 years have been done is a good thing, it shows retro had a clear idea of what to do.

And I've played, in one form or another, all metroid games bar 2 and Prime 3, and I really cannot say whether the 2d games are better than the 3d games or not.

Super Metroid = Metroid 3, not a remake at all. Sure it has the same locations & worlds as the first, but the story is quite different. Are you completely sure you're not getting Zero Mission & Super Metroid mixed up?

Yeah it's really hard to chose between 2D and 3D... ive only played PRIME 1 + 2... i haven't played PRIME 3 yet... so that why im gonna chose 2D.. for now! When i play PRIME 3 my decision might change!

I want them all remade, but Tomba is #1.
