Sonic has a plane because we don't know how he got a plane. Tails pretty much keeps it anyway. Tails got a plane because he's really smart and he made a new plane out of pebbles and blades of grass or something.

Knuckles is stupid, he doesn't get a plane.

Not everywhere has updrafts, and Tails can fly properly (for a little while).

That reminds me. I love how Tails and Knuckles just jump out of the Tornado in Sonic Heroes and leave it to inevitably fly into a huge rock structure and be destroyed.

I'm pretty surprised on how good Sonic Unleashed is, I think it's the best 3D Sonic game since SA2B, if not, then the best 3D Sonic game.
