Yeah, I read the first volume in my local library, was pretty good, so I want to buy it. Smilie They only had volumes 3+4 in my localish Forbidden Planet when I looked... Smilie

Just ordered:

Death Note

Death Note 2: The Last Name

Both were only 7.99GBP on the HMV website. With postage at 5GBP, I got them for under 25Euro. I couldn't pass up that offer seeing as every HMV in Ireland has them at 30Euro each!

Just wondering, is there any other good Live-Action adaptions I should look out for? I usually hate them (especially you Dragonball Evolution), but I liked DN.

The thing is, I really don't want to see Death Note, I want to read it. I know the movie and the anime must be awesome, but just like watching a movie based off a book you've read, it's nothing like you've invisioned it. In this case, since the visual is already there, their voices are different. I like to make my own voices for the characters, you know?

I've seen the movies and anime and read the manga. And for me the anime is much better than the manga and films because the music and voice acting is amazing. It does so well at at keeping you in suspense. Plus the animation is awesome. These are things that can't be repilcated in the manga.

The reason I preferred the anime over the films was because they left a lot out. The anime's soundtrack and voice acting is top notch (Japanese version, haven't watched the English dub) . That said, I think Ken'ichi Matsuyama played a great L in the films. I've only read up to Vol. 2 of the manga, but I'm already starting to prefer it. The flashback pages and non-linear story telling is to my liking and there's little snippets of excellent dialogue in the manga that never appeared in the anime. Vol. 2 has covered up to like episode 8 so with 12 Vol.'s the anime must leave alot out. I hear the ending is different in the manga too.

And don't worry about the making your own character voices, just watch the films and anime subbed. That way when you read the mangas they'll have different, and in English, voices.

Has anyone watched the TV Special re-writes? I want to see them but cannot find.

It may be great, but it's still probably not what I'm thinking of in my head. That is my curse....

Yeah the manga ending was quite different.
I've only seen the first tv special. It's about 3 hours long but it was really good, it had some new scenes in it which weren't from the anime. Now I need to watch the second one but it's almost impossible to find online.

Yeah the anime is great the sound/music are amazing. Worth it just for that.
