When did you hear that? I'm pretty sure they never stopped, they've been critised as unfit to rate games by PEGI though.

Bloody brilliant Smilie. Has a slightly grainy effect that some films suffer in the conversion to HD though, but I thought it was a brilliant film.

Just done a quick google search for some info. I read quite a while back that the BBFC were to stop rating games and that PEGI ratings would take over as being legally enforced ratings - i.e. if a game says PEGI 16, you must be 16 or over to buy the game.

Another forum has a user asking the same thing as me and one user replied:

"Publishers are still free to submit game to be rated by the BBFC if they wish.
Also any game that has a depiction of sex or extreme violence still has to go through the BBFC because Parents still value the BBFC's rating more than PEGI's.
I also think if a game uses film clips it has to go to the BBFC."

So maybe that's the case.

Probably, it would explain why I only ever see the BBFC rating on FMV sequence heavy games.
