I don't really understand where all the praise for the game is coming from. My main gripe is that the battle system seems to be just about tapping enemies and mashing the D-pad until you get the fusion attack thing. The only reason I can see that it is tricky at first is because they don't really explain the fighting properly and basically leave it up to you to figure out for yourself.

The characters are pretty uninteresting and the dialogue is dire as well. I'm only up to the start of the fourth day, maybe it gets better, I don't know, but I don't really have any urge to go back to it and find out any time soon.

Stay with it until the 7th day, maybe another 2-3 hours away. It will start to pick up intensely

Whoever at Square-Enix thought that it was a good idea to put up a teaser site with a countdown for a port like this must be insane. Toying with fans' expectations like this is going to bite them in the ass sooner or later.

I'm not even mad at them for only making a port with updated stuff like graphics or music but to only release it on iOS and not 3DS/Vita or any other gaming platform is just a kick in the teeth for fans of the original.

Thank you for summing up what the rational side of my brain is saying. Smilie

The irrational side however, has this to say to those Square-Enix tosspots;

The fact they announced a remake of the first one for iOS doesn't automatically rule out that a sequel is in the works for 3DS though, does it?

It doesn't, far from it actually because they might be trying to get more people interested in the franchise by releasing an updated port first. I think what bothers most people is that they treated it like it was a sequel. What stopped them from simply announcing it outright? Perhaps pulling stuff like this is Square-Enix's latest marketing strategy, who knows. If it is, I'm most certainly not liking it.

Okay, I'm really pissed off that it wasn't a sequel... or even a port for the 3DS. :/

Anyways, I have a question. How the FUCK will this game work on iOS? Smilie You control 2 characters at a time in combat. Really not sure how this is gonna work...

Can't see it working as well on iPhone and iPad as it did on Nintendo DS, gameplaywise... your thumbs on the touchscreen are bound to hide some of the action. Well... more so than a stylus anyway.

Thing is... iOS is becoming more and more an important market for gaming, whether us handheld players like it or not... moreover, I think the benefits of that platform over consoles (I'm not even sure Apple gets that much of royalties over each and every download titles, if any at all) might make them want to push that platform more than consoles so that more people get interested in it and move away from consoles... if returns on iOS are bigger than on consoles, then it's only natural that they'll want to make it look "cool", by making huge announcements for it, like with teaser wesbites and such. That's how I imagine they're thinking anyway, and seeing how much SE is supporting iOS these days, I think it fuels my theory even more.

I've got two words for you: ...FUCK YES! Smilie So, there was something to look forward to after all? Hopefully the sequel isn't iOS exclusive though. That would piss me off. -.-

If the sequel is going to be an iOS exclusive, the backlash from many fans would be far beyond any recent negative reaction in gaming. In other words, it won't be pretty. Smilie I'm not one to get easily worked up over gaming news but I'd definitely make an exception for a case like that.

I have some assumptions about the image but I'll save the speculating for when Square-Enix actually announces it. Anyone who's played the game can probably guess what I have to say about that character in that image anyway.

Strikes me as weird if S-E revamp the battle system entirely on a 4 year old game not to make more use of it in the future, so I'm expecting this sequel to be announced for iOS. Cue subsequent rage and angry letters.

Speculation on teaser image;
