It should have been there from the start, still it's good that it has that functionality now. It was pretty dumb having to leave games to read messages, like most Wii owners have to do as standard. The Google bar is very handy on the PSP, for the first time ever I used my PSP to browse properly this weekend because of it, I'm sure it will be for the PS3 also. The full extent of the appeal of trophies will only be revealed properly once HOME is up.

A move in the right direction. I can see Sony overtaking Microsoft with community and functionality very soon once HOME is up. What Sony is creating is a real community, not rigid pages like Microsoft's.

Just saw this video on Playstation.Blog. Seems 2.40 is gonna have pretty much everything I've been waiting for, especially the ability to send/read messages without having to quit to the game. All they need now is cross-game invites and voice chat to anyone on your friends list regardless of what game they're playing (I'd probably never use most of them features, I don't on my 360) and then it will be pretty much on par with Xbox Live, though some of those features are patented by Microsoft if I remember correctly.

Apparently this was meant for the 18th July, The in gaem XMB will be so useful as Brawlbumboy keeps spamming me while im playing games, I have heard about the in game music playing capability, the trophy system ect ages ago, but I would really love to be able to access the internet when on a offline game.

Don't see what the fuss for Home is all about, but that may just be done to me being a Facebook type of person as oppossed to Second Life.

I got the 2.4 update yesterday, but according to Brawlbumboy they had to remove it due to it litterally killing your PS3 by restarting it during the install, sounds a bit broken there. Non of my games are capable of using features like the in game music yet, and it seems slightly laggier than the one in the video.

I hope that they patch it soon.

Same here, apart from the music player wont run in game, but tht might be my games fault. Still much much better when you dont have to quit to read messages, I just hope they give it the ability to use the internet in game as well that would rule.

Cheers Sony for providing us with something that should have been done 1-2 years ago.
