I'm liking the new update. I like how they've erased the spider-man font logo when starting up a game and added the new logo.

From what I can tell the reason for poor build quality this gen is the use of lead free solder in manufacture to keep within legislation, which cracks. Wrapping a 360 in towels fixes it as the heat generated melts the solder and when it cools it's fixed. The only report I've seen of a slim breaking has been proven false as the guy was pressing the pressing the power button twice.

I don't recall ever having issues with uncharted when I played it last year. Did you download the patch?

never buy pre-owned games lol unless they no othr way or I see the disc 1st

Just added a bunch of you lovely folk, though I've not been through the whole topic yet.

I've been playing a little Noby Noby Boy and the PS3 Loco Roco. I can't make heads or tails of NNB, but I've had some laughs out of it so far, and it was only three quid!

Yeah, it updated to the new version automatically. I just finished playing a chunk of FFVII, no problems. Played COD: WaW for hours earlier, no problem. I\'m gonna let the console cool down, and then try again. If it crashes on that level, I\'m saying it\'s the game.

Some other people have been reporting issues with Uncharted... might be worth changing the game though just to make sure. Is it the Platinum edition of the game, or the normal one?

Platinum, It's second-hand, but the disc looks mint, pretty much. When you say other people have reported issues with Uncharted, do you mean in general, or on the new slim model?

I think its in general, might be a 3.0 thing. Worth changing it over though just to be sure. But it's not as great a number as it was made out to be having problem (someone posted it was all over the boards, and I went there and there was a topic with 3 posts).

Just a heads-up about the whole Uncharted crashing thing, I've got a feeling it's related to the new firmware, not the new slim model. I've heard about it from folks on the official PlayStation forums, some also said that they've heard about it on other sites too. I've had Uncharted ever since I first got my PS3 and finished it several times and it has never crashed on me. I'm gonna try playing it later on my 40GB and see what happens.

Well, it's definitely the game. Booted it up after letting it get cold, Uncharted crashes in the cave again. I think it's to do with the auto save, since every time I reload my game, it loads exactly where it crashed. Played COD for over an hour afterwards and it never froze (still playing it now).

looks like its Firmware 3.0 that doing that hope ND fix Uncharted soon alot will be playing it the fist time :/

If the Uncharted crash is happening it\'s not Slim nor version 3.0 - It always crashed for me at the first part on the boat. After that it was smooth sailing (no pun).

Edit: my advice would be to get through that part as quick as possible.

well I never had anything go wrong with Uncharted not try it with the update but i know they been ppl say now they somthing wrong

somthing funny going on when alot of ppl say a game start doing it all at the same time

Hmm, the birthday money has been flowing in today. Would be nice to have a blu-ray player, and £250 seems very reasonable for a PS3 slim. 360 stills seems nackered, and there are loads Sony exclusives I'd love to get hold of.

Not all free. Only some costumes are free, whilst seasonal costumes will be free for a time. The MGS levels cost as well. You can still play on any level someone else has made using the premium content though

PS3 menu is terrible, I don't have a clue how to set it up. It's just loaded with tons of settings everywhere. I can't even setup my internet, it won't work. Half of the options I don't have a clue what they do.

Have you looked in the instruction manual? Lots of people seem to forget that companies bundle manuals in with all their stuff. ^_^;

Network settings is at the bottom of the settings list. 3rd option in that sets up the Internet.

I guess its opinion, but I like the menu on the PS3. I don\'t see tons of settings everywhere, only on the Settings section...

I\'ve tried looking in the manual, but it still won\'t connect to the internet. I\'ve tried everything and it still won\'t work.

All it comes up is \"The connection to the access point timed out.\"
