But all I need to know is that it's going to play like a mix between classic Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts for me to be excited about it. Basically it's going to be everything FFXIII should have been.

You wanted FFXIII to be like Kingdom Hearts?

Towns, explorability, world map, airships, proper shops, all these things are gone from FFXIII, and they're supposedly back in Versus, for what seems to be the first time since IX.
Also the gameplay is "new" for the FF series, and since FFXIII got what FFXII had and just chucked it out in favour of something closer to FFX, I consider it a step back.
So yeah, imo Versus is turning out to be the "true" FFXIII. The Kingdom Hearts inspired battle system is just an added bonus.

Just lost all my Demon's Souls data. ![]()
It's a pretty shoddy piece of software tbh. The slowdown is nasty and there are terrible memory leaks which make everything slow right down after playing for a while.
I was just running along and the game just completely stops responding to my controller. It wasn't just the controller through as the HDD activity icon was constantly blinking. Eventually I just had to turn it off and the data was corrupted.

A GOTY can't be a shoddy piece of software, seems like you got a dodgy copy. Import FTL ?_?

Have a dilemma, I don't know whether to play Uncharted 2 or inFamous first...

Uncharted 2, Infamous will take longer to complete thus you will not play UC2 sooner than you could seeing as infamous has two endings. But damn those are both brilliant games.
I found leaked acronyms from Zipper Studios regarding the naming process of MAG
Large Action Game LAG
Big Action Game BAG
Stealth Action Game SAG
Fast Action Game FAG
Team Action Game TAG
Huge Action Game HAG
Zipper Action Game ZAG
Giant Action Game GAG
John's Action Game JAG
New Action Game NAG
Massive Action Game MAG
Running Action Game RAG
Wicked Action Game WAG
Very Actiony Game VAG
So there, Zipper are very creative in the naming process.

I don't know, Uncharted 2 is probably more of a notable game, but inFAMOUS is on the Platinum range, now. To my mind it didn't come out that long ago, so Uncharted 2 will probably be Platinum in a few months or something.
If money's no trouble, get Uncharted 2, first.

"As it happens every year, the Xbox 360 dedicated edition of the Japanese magazine Famitsu interviewed some Japanese developers to know more about their future plans for the 360. These developers always end up saying something about other consoles as well.In this year's edition, SEGA has stood themselves out by talking about the much requested sequel to Shenmue 2.SEGA still thinks a lot in making the game, however there exists the selling and profitability factors.None of the previous games sold really well for the investment made, and SEGA is in doubt as to if it will resurrect the series. However SEGA assured the fans that if there is some opportunity to revisit the series, they'll love to do it.SEGA also mentioned the chance of one of the three hardware makers financing the game's production in exchange for an exclusivity deal.Let's see if Microsoft, Nintendo or Sony are interested."This is interesting as we usually don't see Sega say something other then their usual company line about the Shenmue series.

I've currently got about 4 PS3 games including Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Soul Calibur IV, Dynasty Warriors 6: Empires, and Armored Core 4.
Uncharted was alright, pretty cinematic with a nice battle system. It would have been nice if stealth could be easier to pull off, though. The puzzles were pretty much cake, and the treasure really gave my Trophy Count a boost. Pretty fair for a game that came with the system.
Soul Calibur was also alright. Character creation had a nice balance of complexity and simplicity. Story mode was too cake and just seemed to be "that mode where you get money and ultimate power". It was also fun making alternates of the original cast, like outfitting them with something close to their past costumes. Tower of Lost Souls seems to be the real meat of the game, so I'll be sure to give it a go. BTW, I tried making Lloyd for ToS.
DE6E was somewhat limited, but still pretty great. Character creation wasn't as complex as Soul Calibur IV's, but it still let me make a pretty nice custom character. So it's nice being able to play as Assassin from FSN
. The gameplay is a lot like Star Wars Battlefront except with more teamwork involved and hack-and-slash rather than PEWPEWLASERS. There are lots of weapons and preset characters to choose from, and it's kind of cool that the presets all have their own personalities and histories...and weapons(which there are a ton of, swords, maces, and stone columns included). A friend of mine recommended this one since he's a big BIG fan of the series (that and he wanted to play co-op). Replayability is high, I'll tell you that.
I can't really say much about Armored Core 4 at this point, since I haven't really played it as much. All I can say, though, is it's a lot of GIANT MECHA WITH MISSILES AND MACHINE GUNS AND LASER CANNONS AND BOOST-DODGING AND HOVERING AND STRATEGY. And the customization system is complicated as FUCK. I'm talking tons of stats to worry about and literally choosing every major organ, part, and accessory. And don't get me started on making an emblem. Also recommended by the same friend since he's a huge fan...So I'll end up giving it to him when he gets his PS3.
So yeah, that's it for now. I've got my eye on a few anime-based fighters. Demon's Souls is pretty damn nice as I've heard (Atlus FTW). Everyone keeps screaming CODMW2, but I don't have a SECKSBAWKS so they're all sadfaice.jpg. Dynasty Warriors Strikeforce? Looks pretty damn AWESOME. Uncharted 2? Maybe. LittleBigPlanet seems really really REALLY fun by the demo I tried out with my lil bro. Bayonetta seems like a DMC clone, yet still interesting by the demo. Peeps are going on about AvP, and it looks pretty nice. Valkyria is only $20 here, so I may look into that.
I'm too lazy, so that's all I'll say. Recommend me whatever if you want. Maybe I'll look it over.

Uncharted 2 is not a question mark or a maybe. It's a must, it's really is a great experience from start to end no BS. The multiplayer is a fun time too.
Bayonetta is not a DMC clone it's a text book for the other games in the genre.
LBP yes, Valkyria Yes, I want Demon Souls but ain't settling for import in case there's DLC.
I'm not sure why you'd need a sexbawks for MW2 tho?

Nice find on the Shenmue details, Simez.
I truly hope Shenmue 3 gets made but I'll be disappointed if it ends up being a 360 exclusive. I would give a lot to see Shenmue 3 but I would be hard pushed to buy a 360 just for it. As a PS3 owner I would obviously prefer it to be on PS3 instead, but I truly think it would just be better to release it on both platforms. I don't think the Wii has a chance when we all know just what sort of a beautifully realistic game series Shenmue is.
Perhaps the Shenmue 3 dream isn't dead just yet. I do believe it will happen one day. I'd like to believe the story is complete and it's just a case of actually making the game.

ALRIGHT I GET IT. They're all awesome.
But yeah, all of my friends except for maybe one or 2 have MW2 for the Xbox.

Haha PK I'm just trying to give you a vow of confidence in your purchases.
Ah ok on your friends MW2 thingy.
Crocomire
The story is complete and written. All Sega need to do is make this game.
They're just asking Ninty, MS or Sony to fund it, then it'll happen. Hopefully it happens , they can't leave the fans hanging like this.

Good games can be technically bad you know...

Name two since you said games. A game being technical mess is what keeps it from being good.

Great find on the Shenmue III news, Simez. It's the first time in years and years that SEGA have even commented on it other than their standard "We have no plans at this time". Nice to know that they're at least looking into some options, even if nothing comes of it.

Yeah if it doesn't come ever then blame MicroSonTendo. I just know it'll never come into fruition, but never say never really.

I just got my second copy of Demon Souls today. The US version with Soundtrack. Now i just have to wait for the International edition and i'll be set. It's still so hard to pick which game I prefer between Uncharted 2 and Demon's Souls.
Also just picked up Bayonetta and all I have to say is BELIEVE THE HYPE. The new patch available on the PS3 brings up the experience possibly on par with the xbox version.
Also grabbed Operation Flashpoint this week to fend off the hours before White Knight arrives. Extremely fun game, I admire Codemasters for making a shooting game that although limited in funding compared to higher selling bandwagons pulls off the "I GOT HIT" perfectly. Taking a similar approach as MGS3 and the later Far Cry 2, it feels so rewarding knowing that any bullet can kill you, instead of the lead eaters crowding the FPS library

Surely I'm misunderstanding you. Games are more than just bits of programming.
Would Tetris not still be a great game even if it occasionally crashed and corrupted your high scores?
Games with major technical problems that were/are still great:
Goldeneye: Go explode some barrels and check out the frame rate. It frequently hits single figures.
Darkfall: a game that should have cost 100 Million dollars and made by a team of 150 people, made by 30 people for about 30 Million in Greece. The engine is stone age and there are lots of bugs, but it's probably the most overwhelmingly ambitious and entertaining game to come out in almost 10 years.
Demon's Souls has horrible graphical optimisation (it doesn't cull enough invisible or barely visible distant objects). They probably didn't have time to do the last pass. There are also quit a lot of bugs which people have pointed out on other forums. The other day I used a renowned soldier's soul while there was NPC dialogue on the screen, and it didn't give me the souls. Stuff like that.
But it doesn't detract hugely from how good the concepts, overall design and atmosphere of the game are.
Can't believe I'm having to explain this. Classic C3 here. Me writing hundreds of words to explain something so fundamental to someone who appears to judge games by the same values one would judge the latest version of Microsoft Outlook.
I want Demon Souls but ain't settling for import in case there's DLC.

Isn't Demon's Souls still good in single player?
I'm not one for multiplayer/online games that much anymore anyway.

Grumbles - get MAG!!

I have to use wifi at the moment and I'd have to put the PS3 in a stupid place to get any decent latency unfortunately. Add me though: raffachicken

Yes but the magic will be gone without the messages, ghosts, invasions etc.
