PlayStation General Topic

Today was the first time that I got to sit down with RDR (About 7 hours) properly since my TV bust, and I've been using the common room one at uni today. This is also my first Rockstar game (believe it or not) and I'm loving it to pieces.

I'm only about 28% through the story and haven't even touched upon the online play but everything is so rich. The Voice acting is easily the best I've seen in any game (as well as character development)and the combat mechanic is pretty (as Martin_ put it) Brutal. Everything from shooting enemies at close range repeatedly to skinning animals has blood splash onto the screen. Dead Eye mechanic is useful as hell in tight sitatuions too. The scenery featured is unbelievable and so, so beautiful to watch fly by and you get to see it all as you gallop through the landscape. Story wise, it's pretty excellent, I can't wait to see what else is in store for me The story only makes up a small part of it as well as there is tonnes to do, from solid mini games to getting your Hunter, Marksman etc ranks up and even random showdowns that happen from time to time is pretty awesome.

Can't wait to play some more of this, there is nothing quite like hog tying a woman and watching her (literally) explode under the wheels of a train, or shooting a horse in the face and watching the owner fly off. AwesomeSauce.

I have to start everything from scratch, I wanted to play some games again so this'll be the perfect reason. Also all the content I download is tied t my user name including trophy data so not all is lost.

why did't you take out the harddrive? and slip it in?

That would cause it to format, losing all data anyway. Major fail for Sony there

Nah the 40gb HDD uses a different shape shell to the slims one. I did take the HDD out yes, it's also using a Toshiba HDD instead of Seagate.

I'm dread going through FFXIII and all those corridors *shudders*.

Anyway I finally got every game with installs installed on my HDD, now I'm ready to go. I managed to get my copy of MGS4 (which was stuck in the old one) out of the phat. It's a clever trick concerning the fan.

Now I need to buy an external hard drive.

inFAMOUS 2 was indeed confirmed recently, some magazine has an exclusive on it. Cole has hair now. *yegasp*

Also Yakuza 4 confirmed for western release.
I guess Yakuza 3 sold well enough afterall? Great news for Yakuza fans.

Dunno if it's gone unnoticed, but FFIX went up like over a week ago on the EU PSN. Thought of how happy it would make SL when I saw it!

I love it so much, it reminded me about why I even loved FF in the first place. I'm like midway through Disc 3 but it's on hold for now while I play SMG2.

They're getting ready for E3 mate.

Wow - big news.

Sega to re-release Dreamcast hits on PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade (click).

First two games to come out are Sonic Adventure and Crazy Taxi. SA1 is coming Autumn this year. No date for Crazy Taxi just yet I don't think, but probably this year too.

Better yet, they'll get improved hi-res graphics (don't know whether this means HD but they didn't use those words so possibly not), surround sound, online leaderboards and trophies/achievements.

I believe it's effectively the DX version of Sonic Adventure that will be coming out.

We'll see more at E3.

Most requested Dreamcast game to re-release is Shenmue, but I'm sure the size of that game would take a lot of effort to bring it to download. Could release it in chapters or something I suppose - but they'd be milking money out of it easily that way.

I hope these DC games come pretty cheap anyway.

Jet Set Radio has been rumoured for quite a while aswell, and with this announcement I could see it happening. I've always wanted to try it but I haven't found any copies to actually play on my DC, lol.

Sonic Adventure 1 being the DX version will piss a lot of people off. A lot of people insist that the DC version is better (it is slightly less glitchy and has sharper controls), plus it's really not a DC game, making this a bit of false advertisement really.

By the way, I got 3D Dot Game Heroes and I intend to try it as soon as I'm done with SMG2. It looks pretty fun!

I'm guessing they'll be 1200 Microsoft Points like the Xbox Classics. (that's about £10.00)

From what I read briefly on Wikipedia, the Xbox version will get SA, and then some sort of add-on to give it the features of the DX version. The PS3 will simply get the DX game right away. Don't quite understand the point of that exactly.

I was thinking that perhaps they know the DX version was worse than the original in terms of glitches etc, so they'll bring the original DC Sonic game out, and then bring out the add-on which has the DX extras, but all touched up and glitchless.

Why give PS3 gamers the DX version right away then? Are we getting the glitchy version, or is it being touched up right away in one package? Hell knows what's going on, but I'm sure we'll find out come E3.

Regarding Shenmue size on PSN there's no size limit for such things. XBL has size caps.

XBLA has a 2GB size limit. If these games are going under the 'Arcade' brand then they will likely be under this restriction. The games will also probably only have 12 achievements/200 points which seems too little for a full game.

Well it wouldn't be too small entirely as Bionic Commando Rearmed only had 13 Trophies including the Platinum. 12 trophies/achievements for such games would be small given the size of their campaigns, especially Shenmue and Sonic Adventure.
Hopefully Shenmue makes the port.
