It's going to be cool having people online on Wipeout HD again. Was one of the first games I got on my PS3. If you liked Wipeout back in the day, and have a penchant for vehicular combat, you should dig it.

It's a bit clinical/sterile to look at (and thus kind of boring if you're used to Mario Kart and that ilk), but it's one of those rare beasts this gen that actually natively renders at 1080p, and at 60fps to boot.

Hadn't played Wipeout since I had a demo of it on PS1 hell knows how many years ago. First play of HD/Fury suggests F-Zero is faster, but I gather you can alter the speed level. Using the auto-pilot thing to help stop me crashing of course ;] Online interface seems decent and busy. Runs very well online too; no lag experienced. Definitely can't complain for free!

Haven't purchased my other game yet but thinking LBP is the way to go. Ratchet I've heard mixed things about, so I dunno.

It's slower than F-Zero, but F-Zero isn't 'vehicular combat' so much as it is a straight racing game with a futuristic setting. If Wipeout was that fast, you'd never be able to aim the missiles and such.

Very true. Makes more sense having given it another go earlier. Playing online only makes me want F-Zero online even more though. So many missed opportunities for Nintendo this gen, but will hopefully rectify it with Cafe. I hope.

That's a damn good price and as good a time as any to get one.

Uncharted 1 and 2 double pack also releasing July 22. And on same day is Resistance 1 and 2 double pack and Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time and Tools of Destruction pack.

£180 PS3 and Uncharted Pack is all you need.

Specs for the upgraded PS3 model include a lower power consumption compared to the current Slim going from 230 watts to a more efficient 200 watts. Weighing in at a lighter 2.6kg, there will also be a 320GB hard disc, while on the external front it will have changes made to power and eject buttons with LED lamps said to have also been removed.

The amount of good games available for it at dirt cheap makes £180 for the console seem almost a bargain. It's pretty much a week's wages for most people. Don't see why any games fans wouldn't consider it, especially with free online and a contender for game of the year out this year i.e. Uncharted 3.

The Uncharted 3 beta is out in a few days for Infamous 2 owners and I think PS+ owners as well. Gonna be amazing!

My god I have not played the Wipeout demo in years either. That was a cool game though. I am thinking of getting Infamous for my free game. If you get LBP then we can play together, I have the full game as well.

I own Infamous but still yet to play it. By the way, PS Plus users can download Burnout Paradise which last until your subscription expires, which I definitely recommend you all check out whilst it's up there. It's kind of a mix between driving and RPG/adventure in a way. It's really damn good. If anyone has it and wants to try and tackle a few events together, let me know.

Oh, and Beyond Good and Evil is about 6 or 7 quid with your PS Plus discount. I have the game on PS2 so don't think I'll bother, but worth mentioning all the same.

LKR, you still up for trying to get a match or two going? I've honestly not been playing the beta much because I've had quite a few things going on: birthdays, meals, Wimbledon, work.

I'm only on level 4 or something and wouldn't say I'm fantastic yet. During next week once all the tennis is over I should be more freed up. I wanna try that Three Team Deathmatch or whatever it is. Although I actually really enjoy Free For All.

I tried getting it going but couldn't find any players. What level are you now? Gotten pretty good?

I have it. It seems to retain Uncharted 2's weirdness, almost lag (?), where you'll get into a confrontation and both parties will die. It's strange. Many a time it has happened, and it did on UC2 as well. It typically goes like this; me and some other person are shooting each other in the face. I die, then a second later after I think I've lost, turns out I also killed them. It's a weird issue that I don't get with other games.

Yup, happens for me on numerous occasions as well. Bit of a pisstake when you think you've got him, and you die too.

Alongside Pixeljunk games, Thatgamecompany games are always something to get excited about

Has anyone got Braid? Currently £2 on PSN Plus.

This game is messing with my fucking head. I can't figure out how to get some puzzle pieces on even the first bloody level. It's proper hurting my brain. Cool though, and for two quid, you gotta pick it up.

Update: Now only one world left (I think) :]
