C3 Poll: Would You like a New Wario Land for DS?

Click here for Interview with Nintendo on Wario Land: Shake Dimension

    Cubed3 Review - 7/10

As part of our interview with the team behind the gorgeous platformer for Wii, we received an interesting response for the prospect of seeing more of the cheeky Wario's antics on the DS:

Nintendo: "Wario Land DS" - oh I just want to develop it! Maybe, if many of your readers' opinions are gathered and sent to us, it might be an idea that will be realised in the not too distant future. Everyone, do you want to play "Wario Land DS"?

So, with that in mind - Would you like to see a new Wario game for the DS much like the Wii version and other Land titles for GameBoy/Advance?

Be sure to share your views and ideas for the game here and we'll pass them back to Nintendo soon!

    Thanks guysSmilie

Voted yes - would be good to see Wario return to the DS!

The system is such a platformer friendly platform - can continue to use the touch screen for some touch-specific puzzles/moves and perhaps have more on the dual-screens for some Sonic Rush-like gameplay.

I loved some of the ideas in Master of Disguise, the costumes etc - would be good to see some of that return in a possible Wario Land for DS.

As JB said, the DS is an excellent system for 2D platformers. I'd love to see a game of this sort of visual style on the system too.

    Answer is yes.

JB is actually Iwata in disguise, hence why all these company influencing polls are coming about.

Either that or he's working undercover.

Yes, a DS wario would be great.

    Needs a new gimick though.
I suggest letting wario go into bullet time, and while everything is slow you can distort the landscape with the stylus.

": No, we did not considered that from the beginning. Some may have found it to be bothering, plus we wanted them to enjoy the main story of the game without distractions."

    Hate these kinda of answers.
    Why cant they be honest?

They act like everything has to be for our benifit, and we couldnt possible understand development times, or how approperate it would be for the game.

Sorry if my post comes out three times, I dont see it...seems to be a problem with the comment system.

Can never have too many Wario Land Games, plus Nintendo's DS schedule is a bit flat right now, W.L 5 would give it quite a boost. Smilie

I'd love to see one, I'm a huge fan of the Wario Land series and I reckon it beats the portable line of Mario platformers.

Would be cool to see a 3D-2D style game, like the New Super Mario Bros. Smilie

The DS's releases are thinning out a bit, and I loved Wario Land 4 to pieces, so that's a definte yes!

The animation of WarioLand 4 was nice enough, I can't wait to see what could be accomplished on DS.

One day I will be a real life anime.

i wouldn't mind. i'd prefer a new Donkey Kong platformer over a new Wario. We just had this one, soo i'd say it's a bit too early to get yet another one. Give Wario a rest and give us time to complete "the shake dimension" at 100% already, which is not an easy task at all and will take some time to accomplish ^^

I think that there should definately be another WL. All of the other WL games were pure awsome. If it does come out on the DS then it should be 2D,and maybe some more mini games.Smilie

Wouldn't mind, wouldn't buy it though. I think I enjoyed the Wario platformers on the gameboy, but I'm definitely more a fan of his voice than his games.

So I'd like a Wario poetry cd.

Shake It's great fun, but just didn't grab me like Wario Land 4, so I'd love a mix of the Shake It's gorgeous graphics and the fun factor of WL4.

I know people on NeoGAF are saying they're desperate for a 2D Metroid, and I know we all are, but the question from Nintendo was specifically about Wario Land DS and what ideas should be included.

That's cool to see a 100% positive response...but I'd also like to see what ideas people have for a potential Wario Land on DS. Would people like to see touch-screen 'scratching' to replace the 'shake' in the Wii edition? Or something else?

Actually I'd like to have an honest to good platforming game. New levels, new classic invincible style Wario powerups etc.

    Basically Wario Land 5 Smilie

Basically what the question should be is,

Should nintendo bring out a platformer that keeps all the fun and gameplay of the old Mario/Wario games without cramming so many gimmicks into it that it chokes on it's own pretention and dies.

    then yes, yes they should

It doesn't need to use the touch screen at all. Not one bit.

AND WARIO NEEDS TO BE INVINCIBLE, DAMNIT!

I agree with this. One of my favourite platform games is Kirby Mouse Attack, whereas I really didn't like Power Paintbrush because of the touch-screen control. So yeah, bring Wario Land 5 back to its pure platform roots, with the quirky soundtrack from WL4 and I'd be one very happy chappy!

Keep using the voting buttons folks, please Smilie And spread the word so we can show Nintendo what we want to see!

Yeah, Wario needs to be invincible again.

One of his most awesome aspects. He's an awesome enmough character as it is, but he really is like a parody of a mary-sue.

I think the question is: "who wouldn't want a Wario Land for DS?" I'd love to see that! Oh and also, Super Mario World 3 please Nintendo. Oh and while you're at it, give me a sequel to Majora's Mask, 2D Metroid, SMRPG 2, and Super Mario Bros (enter number here) on Wiiware OR DS.
Thank you, now I'll just sit back and wait for my copies of all those games arrive at my door... anytime now... Smilie

I say no, they already tried to make a Wario Platformer on the DS, and failed miserably (stupid touch controls). If they make WarioLand for the DS it will also probably depend on touch controls too much.
