Just watching a match between Steve Davis (UK) and Neil Robertson (Australia) now. It's been pretty epic. The third frame was 45 minutes of safety shots before Neil got lucky and sunk a red. It's a fairly unique sport in that you get a good mix of ages playing professionally. At the time of writing, Robertson is 27, and Davis is 51. I can't think of another big professional sport where you get that, with the possible exception of darts.

I'm sure this thread will sink like a leaden weight in a bath tub. Anyone here like snooker? I love it! I find it really relaxing to watch. Especially with a spliff.

I'll watch it everyone now and then, and it is really enjoyable. I never take note of who's who. And it's not a sport I'd follow like football and tennis, but if it's on TV - I'll watch it.

I play snooker pretty frequently though - got a few mates with snooker club memberships in town. I usually fare pretty well against them considering they've given up on A-levels to pursue careers in the sport. Smilie

That probably doesn't mean that you're much good, just that they made a really bad decision.

Dude yuor totally awesome. And i won't be killing you anytime soon.

Love all forms of billiards/ snooker/ pool except it's only really broadcast on pay tv over here.

Used to play religiously when I was still living at home, but now that I've moved out my skills with a cue have significantly plummeted.

Yeah i love Snooker, i fully expect Ronnie O' Sullivan to win, i hope he does. Wait for it to come round every year. Its a good sport if you've got the patience. Id Suggest the only other sport is Poker - if you class it as sport, but if you dont you bring fishing into it etc blah blah. The Robertson/Davis match was good watching though, can't stand too much safety play.

Robertson won 10-2. He deserves the win, as he completely out-classed Davis. Australia have got a really world-class player in Neil Robertson. He\'s just got to win some tournaments, now. I\'m sure it\'ll happen for him. He\'s one of the favourites for me, this year. It\'s also a sort of unique game in that, rarely can anyone blame anyone else for their loss. It\'s always the better man who wins.

Love Snooker, Ronnie the Rocket is my player.

He's on tonight, against Allen.

Ronnie O\'Sullivan is a cocky, arrogant, moody player. This is probably why I like him, same as I like Liam Gallagher, they\'re not afraid to be who they are, Ronnie doens\'t feel the need to pretend to be someone else, and fair play to him. Totally agree that it\'s a very relaxing sport to watch, however, as I\'m not a lawbreaker, with the IQ of a dead goldfish and a memory to match, I don\'t watch it with a spliff

Was there really any need for that anti-cannabis mini-tirade? I don't suffer from memory loss. I don't suffer from memory loss. Wait, what was I saying?

I don\'t really follow snooker but I do enjoy watching it if there\'s nowt else on. The problem is that it\'s hard to watch a whole game because they have 17+ frames (or whatever). Also they often skip out bits on TV. I know it\'s a sport of patience but sometimes I wish they sped it up just a tad (have best of 9 frames or something?). I did hear a rumour they were thinking of implementing a version with a few of the balls missing though.

Oh, and I vaguely support Stephen Hendry, no idea why.

PS: Darts isn\'t a sport. Smilie

O'Sullivan is out, he was beaten 13-11 by newcomer Mark Allen.

Steven Hendry just compiled his ninth maximum break (147) in professional competition, which earned him £157,000, and a 5-2 lead against Shaun Murphy. Hendry is in rather excellent form, this year. I think he may finally reclaim the world title.

Listen, cunt, if you're going to come round here and post links really awkwardly between words to a completely unrelated escort/prostitute website, at least make sure the rest of what you're saying is sound. Hendry did indeed get a 147 break to take him into a 5-2 lead, but that was like a month ago. Sean Murphy went on to beat Hendry in that game, and made it all the way to the final, where John Higgins won the title, 18-9. The final itself was weeks ago.
