My brother is considering buying a DSI and I need the opinion of anyone who owns them as to how good they are.

The situation is that he has DS Fat, and the right side of the top screen has come completely detached from the bottom (funny). His screen is screwed and has needed a new one anyway.

I wanna know why the DSI is better than the DS for the extra money. What is the shop like? What is the menu like? What are the benefits?

Any help will be much appreciated 8)

My pictures wont appear so heres a smiley

If he has a Phat there should be no reason at all preventing you from getting one.

I blogged about it HERE

Overall I do think it is worth it, the games that you play on it run alot smoother, sound quality seems alot better, the shop channel is like the virtual console shop channel for wii and their isn\'t alot of very good games out but it\'s only just come out XD but theirs bound to be some good releases soon.
Camera quality is pretty good as well and you can do lots of fun stuff with the pictures you take.

Nintendo Network ID: LKR000               PSN: LKR000
3DS: 1246-8696-120                              GT: LKR101

The only problem is, without trading in a Lite you can\'t get some of the essential discounts; I would personally refuse to pay £150 for the DSi.

If you need a new DS though then you probably should, or you may regret missing the opportunity later on.

My nephew was in the exact same position. The right hinge broken. But he got a DSi and loves it. If he doesn;t need the money, then go ahead.

It's more expensive than a 360... A handheld should never cost more than the leading home console...

If you want to get a new DS then just buy a Lite. They're about half the price of a DSi and they have a GBA slot. Smilie

IMO:

If you need the camera (which isn't really too good), image editing and sound player - then yep - but if he's gonna be playing the existing DS range, then probs get a DS Lite.

I'd go for the DSi, it plays DS games, bigger better screen, better sound and Dpad. I wanna get a DSi in exchange of my black DSlite. LOL off topic: Jb, hahaha was it that new guy that called you an asshole cause he was making up a lot of useless threads? Wow, I thought you banned him by now XD.

My birthday is this summer so I'm thinking of asking for a DSi to take to uni with me. My lite's mic is busted, and I'm thinking that the DSiware will end up being pretty cool. Will be nice as a poor student to be able to buy a 5-10$ download every now and then.

Really, the DSi is all about where your priorities are. If GBA gaming is a must, then no. If you really like the potential for online features, then yes. Regardless though, unless you aren't paying for it, you should probably wait for a price drop. Its a bit crazy how much they're charging for it.

If you want to miss out on all the Virtual Gameboy games and exclusive games on DSi, get a DS Lite.

And save £50. Smilie

I would say it depends on how much the extra money is to you, and how much you'd miss the lack of a GBA slot. It's probably worth getting a DSi, but only if you're not having to do some saving up to get it!

Jesus I never knew the DSi was so expensive!
199.99 euro\'s rip-off! (They dropped the price in argos to 169.99)

If you need as new DS now though you might aswell go for a DSi.

seems like a close run thing between C3's members choosing DSi or DS Lite. I haven't forgotten the 3rd option, keep the Fat. Yes, that was me that voted for it in the poll.
