The demo of this game is out now on PSN and XBL. The game is out August 28th(EU)/25th(US), and in September on PC

The story sees the Joker being taken in to Arkham, only to take over it for himself. A number of other villains are also appearing,m, such as Killer Croc, Harley Quinn, Bane, Scarecrow and Poison Ivy. The riddler will also feature, setting a series of riddles to solve.

The PS3 version has the added bonus of having the Joker playable in challenge rooms, although it could become DLC for the other versions.

Reviews so far are positive, 9/10 in what I\'ve read. And he doesn\'t sound like he needs a throat sweet.

So, anyone else played the demo or getting the game?

I just played the demo on both console and are graphically identical for those who care for that crap. The stealth/come out of shadows gameplay is awesome and so's the combat.
I was REALLY skeptical about this but now it's jumped to a definate day one buy for me. Batman really is the best comic book hero.

Thats good to know. I played the 360 one, but am leaning towards the PS3 for the Joker challenge rooms

Unlike our no-longer-regularly-updated blog, corruption in the games industry has so far failed to go into hibernation. In the week that Eidos has breathed its last, they\'ve decided to go out with a bang by brazenly attempting to artificially hype up their forthcoming Arkham Asylum release.

Several mags have their review code already, but have to sit on their reviews until a hateful embargo expires at the end of the month. But Eidos, ever the helpful fellows that they are, have been offering a way around this embargo. If you dedicate the cover of your mag to Arkham Asylum and guarantee a score of at least 90%, Eidos will allow you to run the review early.

We know that one editor has already valiantly told Eidos to fuck off, but we can\'t tell you which to protect our Anonymous Dark Knight. We also asked the usually chatty UK Officially Corrupt Xbox 360 Magazine editor Jon Hicks about it, who tellingly clammed up tighter than a nun\'s cunt at the mere mention.

But what of the others? Well, there\'s an exciting way to find out in the form of a game that you can play at home over the next month called \"Spot The Corrupt Arkham Asylum Review\". You see, Arkham Asylum is a decentish release that\'s not quite up to par when it comes to variety and depth. This means even the most charitable outlets should settle at no more than the 80s in their verdicts, but don\'t be surprised if you see a few 7s from the pseuds.

This means that if you see a mag turn up within the next few weeks (ding!) that features Arkham Asylum on its cover (ding!) and gives it at least 90% (ding ding ding!), you have a winner.

Exciting!

This is from last month, seeing this thread reminded me.

It does look pretty fun, but I can\'t help but be skeptical at any score over 9.

It plays great on both consoles. I don't get a dime from Eidos, in fact I'll be giving them them dimes at the end of this month and all I can say is fuck that link and play Rock Steady awesome game.

@ Lrrr
I'm also going for the PS3 version due to the Joker content and the PS3 version has better sound on my 5.1s which is a plus, I seriously can't wait.

I really dont care about this game and hw the PR guys have be acting that shit to work on me and its wrong for any one to do that shit

ill not touch this game in a 1000000000 years the way they be acting

I enjoyed the demo although not a day one pick up from me. When it goes on sale and i've got nothing else to play I may get it.

Whether or not the game is great and deserves purchase (not denying it is), the credibility of many reviewers is on the line here. GamesMaster\'s score is just disgusting. I don\'t think they\'re going to realistically persuade anyone that this game is worthy of 96%.

Controversy is awesome.

I doubt very much that it is the first game to have such terms on the reviews, and it most certainly won't be the last

Why not.If they were lying and were putting their rep on the line just for publication then why not give it just 90% which was needed. Why go up to 96% if they are not giving the their real input.
Have you played the demo. Its one of the best demo's i've had the pleasure to play.My gaming Mojo had took a great dive in the last few months but this game as given me hope .
Review sites lost all creditablity when they all got on board the GT4 bandwagon and everyone of them gave 10s all across the board.
I do wish that Eidos would buck up their act but other games like RE5 and MGS4 have done things very close to this.IE invite the worlds biggest MGS fan from IGN to play the game 2 months early. Not a normal reviewer put a mgs nutter.
I bet this game gets alot of 9 and 8s across the board and some might think this is a pile of crap, but that demo has given alot of creditabilty to the gamesMaters review of this game.

Commisioner Gordon should not look like he could take on Batman in a test of strength.

Other than that demo was fun.

Watched the video-preview, looked quite rubbish. I'll wait and see what scores and stuff it gets. I probably won't buy it anyway, I'm not mad on Batman. I'd rather wait for Splinter Cell: Conviction. That's my most-anticipated stealth game.

Psst. Come closer. I know Batman\'s secret identity. It\'s...

Seriously, it is that game in a batsuit. It feels solid, if a little chunky, but once you work around its foibles I think it\'ll be a bloody good ride.

Has anyone else picked up on the flurry of decent licensed games in the past few months? Wolverine, Ghostbusters, this. Yes, they\'re outnumbered by dozens of average-shit ones (Terminator Salvation, Staff of Kings, Night at the Museum, etc, etc), but three well-above-average games in the space of a few months is a veritable landslide. From what I\'ve heard they can all hold their own with Lego Star Wars and Spider-Man 2.

Jesus. A handful of great licensed games out of many hundreds. Am I missing any really good ones (without going back to Goldeneye and all the Disney licensed 8 & 16-bit ones)? Someone start a thread and fill it with embarrassingly bad licensed pap that they were conned into buying. The ones that really shattered their little hearts when they were a pup. Then someone mention how they enjoyed the original X-Men film game and watch me boil and seethe in the background before bursting into a bile-ridden rant about how they\'ve wasted their life playing pestilent disgusting games at the expense of life-changing incredible games.

No need to make that thread now. I\'ve seen it to its logical conclusion.

But yeah, Arkham Asylum is all about the Cole Train.

Less posty, more gamey.

I've played it, and was impressed. It uses lots of tried and tested mechanics, but is extreeeemely polished.

Mark Hamill is so damn good it makes me want to start watching the animated series. Screw Heath Ledger. Smilie

Dude yuor totally awesome. And i won't be killing you anytime soon.

The voices are indeed a highlight, I can't stand Christian Bale's silly gruff batman voice.

I'm quite annoyed that HMV don't seem to have any record of my order. I ordered the special edition with the Batarang etc, but now HMV don't even have it on the site, and the only place can find it online is play.com for £150. Did they cancel it or something?

Comes out this Friday, i'm on the fence. Going to Spain, next week, just brought a laptop and starting university in under a month so I need to be careful with my money. I wouldn't pay £40 for it anyway if I see it around £33 in a supermarket I might grab it.

Got the demo, really don't like this game at all. I find it awkward to control, and the fighting is stupid.

The only thing I didn't like was that the game went into slow motion everytime you finish an enemy.

I find the graphics quite boring to look at, as well.

Apparently the demo isn't very representative of the whole thing. You can set a lot more traps and things, like hide plastic explosives or collapse walls in the final version from what I've heard. Bit of a Splinter Cell edge to it.

I'm not sure whether or not to get it yet. Not sure I've got the money spare to be honest, as I'm buying a PS3.

Well if they've just done a rubbish demo then that's their fault. A demo of a good game should be a good, enjoyable demo. I find the gameplay boring, the graphics quite drab, the visual style completely uninteresting, etc. 'Sides, the new Splinter Cell is looking to be the game to play if you want that kind of gameplay! You might be able to get it with a PS3, depending on how shops bundle them

It is their fault, but I've played countless great games that had bad demoes.

For instance, I'd heard great things about Blue Dragon, and I love RPGs, but after playing the demo I was put off completely.
