Tis a shame that the UK got a price increase. Nintendo UK will probably reduce the price back to it's original RRP of £179.99 and call it a 'price cut'.

I already have a Wii, but this is what it should have launched at. Not that the $250 price tag hurt the sales in any way. I just don't like spending money, that's all.
Or raise it to £250 and say "You can't use a motion controller on a PS3 lol"
Wow, it seems like you UKers got boned :/
I've never understood how the pricing thing works. The systems always get a price drop... The Gamecube started out at $200, if I recall, and dropped to $150 after the PS2 and Xbox dropped.
But somehow, Nintendo is always making more money off of systems. If memory serves, this is also one contributor to why Wii games retail $10 cheaper than the other systems' games.
Going by memory, Nintendo makes a $6 profit off of every Wii, whereas Sony breaks even and Microsoft actually loses money (forgive me if I got any of those mixed up.) But how do they continue to do that if they drop the price? Is it just that the components are cheaper to make? Or does it create a boost in sales that covers for the price drop? A mix of all of these?
I don't know. But all this reminds me of how much I miss the Greatest Hits collection. Getting amazing games for $20 sure was awesome. I mean, Nintendo releases some Wii games for $30 or $40, but usually only if it's a port or a remake or a minigame :/

XD
Seriously though why did they even raise it to begin with in the UK, doesen't affect me but it just seems stupid.

It\'s the same reason the price of Nintendo Points increased.

Well it's usually supply and demand or competition. Nintendo has been in the lead but if they would've increased the price it would've been a bad idea because of quality being short. and if you haven't realized the PS3 and 360 have cuaght up to the Wii's sales, which have been going down for some time. And as well the games will also help with the price too since if a game comes out which is good it will help sale product (super smash bros: brawl) and if a product gets a bad game and lowers sale they will need to go cheaper for thous who can't afford $250 and try to get to them before opponents.
