I hope I get it this week. I'm quite hyped for this game.

Looking back over Super Mario Galaxy footage, I'm really going to miss those fantastic cut-scenes. They really added in making Super Mario Galaxy such a great game and to see them disappear in the sequel is going to be a bit of a let down, for me.

Cubed3 Member

I had to check YouTube to remind myself that there actually were cutscenes in the first. I guess for those who do feel vested in the rather weak story element it could make a difference, but I personally don't feel they had any lasting effect. Otherwise I'd remember them. Smilie

I thought the cutscenes in SMG1 were really spectacular and almost artistic actually.

I understand not particularly caring for the story of Mario games, but I don't understand how you could just forget such great cutscenes!

I do think it's lame that SMG2 doesn't have the same cinematic effort as SMG1, but it doesn't bug me that much anymore. The ending is pretty great.

I dunno. I'm a 360 gamer and much more used to that sort of cinematic stuff - I guess it has to be extremely good to have a lasting effect. And, once again, I know I keep saying this and I know a few don't agree with me, but the galaxy story was pretty pointless and without a significant story-prompt (ie: oh yeah remember at that point when blah blah) it's hard to feel like any glossy cutscene can imprint itself on your memory.

Looking back at those cutscenes now, yes they're very nice indeed. But I still stand by my view, overall in a game like this they mean nothing to me. Smilie

I'm a multiconsole gamer and I found SMG's cutscenes to be just as if not more memorable than most HD games I've played, because it wasn't a cutscene made for telling a deep story, it was just a cutscene for cutscene's sake, and it was an incredibly good one. The visuals and music were just great, it was like a kid's movie almost.

but the galaxy story was pretty pointless and without a significant story-prompt (ie: oh yeah remember at that point when blah blah) it's hard to feel like any glossy cutscene can imprint itself on your memory.

You can say that about any game with an isolated story on some level, unless the game is actually story based. Even if it was "pointless", it was still good. Shadow The Hedgehog's "story" had more point than SMG's, but that doesn't mean anything because it was pretty crap, unlike SMG's.

But I still stand by my view, overall in a game like this they mean nothing to me. Smilie

Nothing? You don't even crack a smile or any kind of warm feeling while watching them? D:

I don't want to get my hopes up, but for some of us, we may have Super Mario Galaxy 2 today. Smilie

Shop.to shipped my copy out yesterday and it's First Class. It all depends on Royal Mail really and they are sometimes a bit lazy.

I know a few people who are getting it early with GAME, as well (if you ordered online).

Same case as Marzy here, I pre-ordered with ShopTo yesterday morning and to my surprise they sent me an email saying it was dispatched about an hour later. I thought there must be some mistake, but quite a few people using ShopTo have echoed that.

So I could get it today? Maybe? Possibly? Smilie

Everyone has finally discovered the wonders of Shopto.net ! I use it for almost all my game orders because it's usually a lot cheaper, and they send it stupidly early!

Just came off it, after a 5 hour play session and it's fantastic. I'm up to World 3 and I have 30 stars, so far. I'm taking a break for a bit, then I'll play again this evening.

It's not been quite as exciting as the first time I played Galaxy (since that was completely new), but it's still exciting exploring all the new ideas. I can definitely feel more of a challenge, so far, compared to the first one. The level designs seems to feel even more linear, but they are really creative and more complex.

Yoshi is pretty fun, although I've found him a little frustrating at times, particularly with the aiming of his tongue.

The only gripes I have with the game, is the lack of decent cut-scene at the beginning and the dialogue/text hasn't been as good as Galaxy's, in my opinion. Rock Mario is also a menace to control, I found.

Same as Marz' here, I'm in World 3 without about 26 or 27 Stars. Except for Yoshi, I love him and he's so much more fun to use than he was in Sunshine Smilie

In b4 someone says "But Mario doesn't need story it only needs gameplay"

It's still nice to have funny dialogue and nice fun stuff to watch. Smilie
