Got my DL code for Kid Icarus 3D Classics. There's no mention of the Limited Edition 3DS they're giving out..I hope I haven't lost out.
We have until 31st of January to register 2 or more games in order to enter the competition. Results will be revealed some time after that. Smilie

Good to know, I want that Mario one.

edit:

The game is really good, ARIKA are getting better at this with each new title.

Rayman Origins for the 3DS is out in Europe on the 16th of March. Let's hope it's as good as the console versions and not just a shoddy port! Smilie

At the very least I hope it's the Wii version with added wi-fi features. It should also look great on 3DS, the 3D effect should be aiding the art-style particularly well.

Part of the appeal in the visual style are the gorgeous high res 2D graphics, which lose a bit of their greatness on Wii, given the lower res. So on the even lower res 3D screen of the 3DS, I expect it to look even less good, though still very original from an artistic perspective.

I'd rather if they went with a completely different game for the 3DS, or if they can't then at least they could make it a bit different, like add different levels for example. Would justify the purchase a bit more for those who already have the home console version.

Nintendo Power issue 275
Resident Evil: Revelations - 9.0 out of 10
Reviewer: Steve Thomason

Some review snippets I found interesting...

- The cruise ship in the Mediterranean "proves to be the most discomforting since the original RE mansion"
- "The game made me jump with embarrassing regularity while playing in a bright lit office"
- Big focus on exploration and scrounging for items and health
- Main focus is the ship with side plots that require you to play as different characters
- These side plots move much faster (more action) than the main story on the ship
- Game runs in episodes much like a TV series
- "couple of neat plot twists"
- "The big conspiracy at the center of the game never quite managed to hook me"
- No surprise appearances (Jill and Chris are the only old characters to return)
- About 10 hours to complete
- Raid Mode is more focused and more compelling multi player than Mercenaries 3D
- Raid Mode has more "staying power than Mercenaries"
- Same control scheme as Mercenaries
- Use your thumb on the touch screen to activate some fingerprint locks
- StreetPass enables you to receive special rewards for use in both multi and single player modes
- Genesis Bioscanner is a "nifty addition to the RE formula, and something we hope to see expanded upon in the future"
- Production values are great. CGI cinematics and soundtrack are great. "Hard pressed to think of even a Wii game that seems to have as many resources poured into it"
- Underwater is not "nearly as frustrated as it is in most games"

Ending statement:
"If Revelations isn't the best reason to own a Nintendo 3DS right now, it's pretty darn close. The game is a showcase for what the handheld is capable of and a potent reminder of why Resident Evil remains one of the medium's most celebrated franchises."

I made this using the 3DS interval shot mode, this morning.

Enjoy! Smilie

That's pretty cool Ross. I haven't tried anything like that yet.

Cool Smilie. We're supposed to get snow this week here. Doubt it'll settle, but I'd like to make something like that, showing everything progressively getting coevered in white, that would be so cool Smilie.

Thanks guys. Smilie

The only problem is, the 3DS must have a speaker built into it or the volume doesn't work on the camera mode. I had to sit through an hour of a constant snapshot noise every 5 seconds. Smilie

I'd like to get more creative with it and try out some more ideas using that feature.

I think that's the volume that turns itself back on just for the moment the sound effect is thrown, to avoid the 3DS being used to take sneak pictures of people around you, like for example you're pretending to be playing while actually you're taking a picture of the girl sitting right in front of you on the bus, or something like that. maybe Nintendo didn't want its console being used that way

Yea, I'm sure the people at Nintendo have seen what happens on Japanese trains...

I can't turn off that sound effect on my new smartphone either. Must be commonplace on newer devices, I suppose.

I have 297 hits so far, I think I got most of them after the Zelda concert.

Yeah, it's pretty much a standard for mobile devices nowadays. Reason for this? We live in a society full of perverts. Smilie

Ace Combat has a demo in Japan, it's pretty lame because it only lets you play three times, as opposed to the thirty times offered by others so far.

Kid Icarus is getting Left handed support via the Circle Pad Pro. That should make you a happy man Ross

Not really, I can't control a character with a right analogue stick. The only way it'd be playable for me is to have dual analogue stick controls, but Sakurai didn't want that, as he said aiming wouldn't be as good.

Basically it's unplayable, so sadly I won't be buying it.

I mean it'll be better than using buttons to control a character (Metroid Prime: Hunters), but still not the same feeling as regular controls. I've grown up controlling a character with the left analogue stick and aiming with the right. Doing the opposite just doesn't feel right, it's like trying to write with my right hand.

Both are still much too low IMHO. Also, I never got 5 hours out of my 3DS. 4h40 at the most. But I guess it may also depend on the game being played.

Still no Revelations demo... only 2 weeks until release as well. >.<
