Doctor Who Series 6 Discussion

*Do you think the Silence has the innate ability to remain undetected? (Moffat loves that concept, see Weeping Angels)

*Where did the US government get Zero Dwarf Star Alloy?

*At the end with Doctor Song and the Doctor, I believe she was shocked as, since their relationship is in reverse, it might be that he told her that his first kiss with her was her last kiss with him. So, for this River Song's time-line, her next meeting with the Doctor could be the 'Silence in the Library' episodes (long-reach), alternatively, she knows that the next meeting is a dangerous one for him, as she would have already participated in it!

*For those suggesting the Time-Lord girl is the clone from "The Doctor's Daughter", I doubt it. That wasn't one of Moffat's creations and I don't think she will be picked up with the current Doctor. Just something nice to play with with a later generation, perhaps. The Rani? Would love it, but doubt it. It will be Amy related, going by both of the first episodes. Remember, this is her last season, she needs to be milked before they bring in the new assistant (or don't bring in a new one )

*It annoys me how conveniently ignorant some characters are willing to remain. Amy sees a picture of herself with a child, she tells the Doctor she is pregnant, she sees a child wondering around so of course 2+2=5 and these are completely unrelated. At least there are signs of the Doctor suspecting it.

*The scene where Amy has been taken and Rory is listening to the live-feed really takes me back to when Donna was listening to the recording of the girl who died in Silence de Library. Nice one.

*I wonder if we will find out how other races that invaded Earth came to know of the Silence.

*Why is the Silence looking after the girl and "giving her independence"? - Making the world start the space race just to create a spacesuit for the girl was a nice touch - and as another notation, the Silence must be well-traveled to have twenty different bits of alien-tech in the suit...or are they? Humans made it so perhaps it's technology from Area 51..? The first bit can answer the point above or the second bit can answer the dwarf star alloy bit.

*If this the ship from "The Lodger" was a Silence ship, it wasn't really stranded/deserted then, was it?

*There was a massive, gaping, super-duper plot-hole I found but can't remember anymore, how annoying!

1)There's something about them that makes you forget you've seen them. Written records also fade over time. However, seeing them again makes your memories return. I suspect the 3 month gap may explain further about them, as well as how Dr and Co worked out what they knew

2) It's area 51, so they may have it from there as you say later. However if the 3 months is shown in a later episode to explain the plan it may reveal where it came from

3) I don't think the relationship is exactly in reverse, I think there are a couple of times where they could at later/earlier points in the timeline. I think she has deduced the end is near for her, although I think there is one more meeting with her where he tells her his name and gives her the screwdriver.

If I recall correctly, in Forest of the Dead she says her Doctor is much older than Tennant. But 11 isn't that much older than 10 right now. But the future Doctor has been through all manner of adventures with her, so future doctor would be her doctor.

4) It was Steven Moffats idea to bring Jenny back to life at the end, so he could have had something in mind when suggesting it.

The girl knows she can regenerate, indicating either being told of the ability to do so, or she has done it before.

I'm not sure theres been any mention of Amy leaving, although I'm happy to corrected.

5) River also felt pain when seeing the Silents/Silence. I find it interesting how none of the other characters noticed the photos when they entered the room, the woman in the hatch appeared pretty much right before she saw the photos. And Rory walks close to them

Also, in my opinion she does not look 3 months pregnant. She has a slender frame, so I would think it would show more

Moffat may just be playing with our expectations here, giving us red herrings. Although quite what happened with the Silence and Amy for a few days is currently unknown.

6)Seems to be Moffats thing. A similar thing occurred with the Angels last year.

7) I think we will. Their back story needs to be built up, and a good way to do so would be to show the effecs on another race

8) The suit is possibly to keep the girl alive. To stop her regenerating maybe? There has to be a reason it is a spacesuit, and why no other suit would do.

Area 51 seems most sensible, for now at least.

9) I'm not sure if it's the same ship. Similar perhaps. Maybe the Silents just set her to go somewhere, but with the pilot now dead it landed on Craigs house. Does't explain lack of bodies though

1)The Doctor does not immediately chase after the girl. Either he knows something and is running from her, or he just wants time to think

2)Advocating genocide for an enemy who we have so far only seen advance the human race from behind the scenes seems a bit extreme. The missing 3 months most likely contain some exposition on this

3) Who is that standing by the hut?

It's not part of the car, and can be seen to move. A few shots later it's gone. This is similar to figures appearing to stand in the shadows in The Big Bang.

4) Where is future doctors TARDIS? I suspect in the lake where the Astronaut emerged from. Linked in to the previous point, maybe the figure is someone who is there to communicate to the TARDIS when everyone's there.

1) Going from what we saw of the first two episodes, I think the Doctor suspects the child is Amy's. Not only that, but he mentions at least twice that they will encounter her (one of the times mentioning that she will find them). And let's not forget that he is a time traveler, he could theoretically appear where he is needed at any time on his side.

2)He did say it wasn't Christmas! The Doctor knows they are a big threat, literally the biggest threat to the human races' independence. Perhaps taking away their freedom is worse than taking away their lives to him? Plus, other races warn him time and time again of the Silence, he knows they are a threat.

3) Money is on the Doctor.

The episode felt rather short. Also, I guessed she was a nurse early on and left me waiting until the end for confirmation / wrap up.

Idea of alternate realities is nothing new to the current generation of Doctor Who (Chris E. onwards). Let us not forget about where Rose currently is.

I guess the fact time lords can regenerate to male or female could be significant. Previously it was thought to only be the one.

"The only water in the forest is River." What does it mean???

Would it be farfetched to think that River Song could actually in fact be the TARDIS?

Not sure if this makes any sense, but this was said in Series 5:
Amy: How come you can fly the TARDIS?
River: Oh, I had lessons from the very best.
Doctor: Well... yeah.
River: It's a shame you were busy that day.

Also, in that two parter of Series 5, they were in the forest.

In the 2nd episode of Series 6, River kissed the Doctor and thought they had kissed before. Could the kiss between The Doctor and the TARDIS' be what she was referring to? (Remember that her time line is reversed.)

Was good to see the older TARDIS design again. ^^

With the very best, I think she was referring to her own Doctor, i.e. the one after Matt Smith, i.e. the last Doctor (unless they change the rules with regeneration).

With the Kiss, I think she was shocked to find out that was their first kiss to the Doctor because that also meant it was their last, so they had never kissed before and will never again.

The only water in the forest is River, yeah that must be referring to River Song unless we're being purposely mislead.

I was not expecting that ending and it perfectly explains the weird going ons with Amy and her pregnant/not pregnant status plus the eye patch lady.

With the Doctor switching places with the fleshy doctor, does that mean Amy told the real Doctor about his death??

With the gangers, I was expecting them to go down the whole it was a clone who died route. I wonder how long Amy's not been Amy.

I missed a few minutes of it, did the Doctor say what the Flesh was? He seemed to recognise it last week, calling it primitive if I recall.

I think the Doctor called the flesh primitive as he was comparing them to Amy who was more advance. He must have known about her for a while which is why he decided to learn more about it. We know that Amy had been Flesh in every episode this Season so she must have been taken between series maybe? More questions dammit!!!

Others have said she was swapped when taken by the Silence, but she can't have been as she saw eye patch before that

Just watched the trailer and couldn't gather anything from it. I'm more confused now!

I think the symbols in the trailer are the church from Time of Angels/Flesh and Stone.

Using the it's-really-a-flesh twist again felt cheap a second time and the whole thing with the monks and soldiers seemed pointless.

I think they should have made last weeks episode the mid season finale. A story about killing Hitler doesn't really make me shiver with anticipation.

I guessed that she was Amy's daughter when I saw her name at the beginning I mean Melody = Song, Pond = River.

Great episode, didn't expect River to be Amy's daughter though... I was expecting something a little different than that, especially since The Doctor met River before he met Amy.

The Pond/River Melody/Song was quite a good thing to include though. Still wondering how River knows The Doctor's real name. I hope that will be revealed some time..

I also hope that they show us the part when the Doctor gives River his Sonic Screwdriver. I really can't wait until September. D:
