Guess everyone is doing it.

I have no idea why it's so popular, but wow, even Nintendo made an official one??

I shall LoL if this is true...

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=47791376&postcount=272

So far I think everyones in on this thing (fiasco) and not just by association but circumstance as well as a hell of alot of mis-communication.

From what I can gather this project has gone through that many restarts since it was announced its not funny - we all know this right?

However, what alot of people don't identify (again because of general concensus) is that the Wii U version (still very much on the way), done exclusively by Demiurge studio's, is the big version; the joint venture was banking on.

I know what you're thinkin right? "WTF!?, how stupid, no ones adopting the Wii U, what were they thinking?" and you'd be right if it wasn't for the fact that SEGA's industry analysis favoured the U version, in fact the entire joint venture did.
This is because that version ports to the new consoles by Sony & MS (in the future) and thus has the tightest longevity of the product. Instead of a few months in the dying period of current gen systems, they favour a product that will last (potentally) 2-3yrs and allow for sequals.

Moving on, alot if not all the pre-production of the title was handled by Demiurge studio's before they went onto work exclusively on the Wii U version from the ground up.

Post-production was then handed to Timegate studio's and Nerve software; whilst Gearbox software completed Borderlands 2. Once assets there were completed Gearbox software retook up post-production to release candidacy of the campaign (sp or story, if you like) finalising with Fox and SEGA over the final shape of the product; and Timegate studio's finalised thier assets for the multi-player/co-op campaign with Nerve software (if I'm not mistaken). Which I think is where everyones getting confused. Timegate studio's finished thier work a coupla months back if I'm not mistaken?

Now heres where I have a hunch something behind the scenes went ass-up. Purely speculation of course - and the media is in on it in this scenario (boy I just won alot of cred. there..).

Somewhere around the time Timegate studio's finished the PS3/360 version was canned. The last trailer released by Gearbox Software was the 'Kick-Ass Trailer' - this is actually Demiurge studio's Wii U trailer. I believe that was shortly before the big 2hr IGN reveal, shortly before launch - which again, was the PC version - and why I believe SEGA canned the PS3/360 versions at this time; and the media knew about it.

During this time SEGA must've had a change of heart, possibly due to Wii U adoption looking less progressive (which the joint venture was banking on); and asked Gearbox Software to resurrect those versions at the 11th hour.
Now I know people aren't ready to write off thier current consoles just yet, but from a buisiness perspective - not sinking money into the dying moments of the end of a system generation is a sane call.

So you might ask, "Why then was the PC version not en par with the IGN reveal either?" because its been dumbed down to maintain parity with the console releases. Its actually still quite alot better, the console releases were pretty ordinary.
In the next couple of weeks the Wii U version, the one with the greatest longevity, will be released; I suspect in all my speculation, you will see a magic patch that will bring the PC version up to date, if not surpassing the IGN reveal everyone was watching.

So this good for the Wii U if it's true, right?

But so much sh** has been thrown around of late about this game that I don't know what or who to trust anymore. I have that hunch that if I cancel my preorder for the Wii U version, I'll end up regretting it. So for now, while I'm not holding my breath and I'm getting ready to be disappointed... I'm still not cancelling it.

I'd be very surprised and impressed if that turned out to be true- it could also potentially be the sort of sales drive WiiU really needs around now, but yeah even though I don't have much interest in the game myself I wouldn't hold my breath.

Generally when people make conspiracy theories for game development, things end up a lot more simple and dull than everyone hopes.

Bungie's Parson's on Destiny: On the possibility of a PC version, Parsons said: "We would absolutely love to be on the PC. If you talk to the people upstairs, we play it on all platforms. So, stay tuned." No mention was made of a Wii U version.

Looks like a no-show for WiiU. The game requires a internet connection at all times.

A shame, even if it's on Nintendo's own merits.

That's pretty great news. I hope it gets a decent marketing push and the demo coming this week should hopefully help out too. With Rayman Legends out of the picture, all that's left is Lego City and Monster Hunter. Capcom should be happy if this results in more people looking into Monster Hunter and maybe even becoming big fans of the series.

Yeah it is actually good news for Capcom, that's often a way that more niche series' become more well-known and popular, by being a strong title on a relatively quiet system with an eager userbase! I'm pretty sure similar things happened with Animal Crossing: WW.

It's not my kinda game, but I do hope it's successful. I also hope the bundles really shift tons of consoles.

Comments on that news article say that it's apparently been debunked already. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I'll have to find out if that lets me use the cam/screen for Skype. I want a Skype app for Wii U, but I don't think it's coming any time soon.

The Upad is great for webcamming, but their own service is crap.

Skype are in league with Sony, so I doubt it. I don't think Nintendo want that kind of service on it's child-safe platforms.

Wii U PP £225 @ Zavvi

Would rather see things like Twitter on WiiU to be honest, but yeah they have Miiverse so I doubt it'll happen.

^Also ironic that Skype is in "leagues" with Sony despite being a Microsoft owned application.

That's the Pro Controller, not the Gamepad.

Cubed3 Limited Staff :: Review and Feature Writer

Either way, I realised you can probably never use the screen of the Upad, because you'd need a powerful transmittor for the stream.

@Rudy Yea that Smilie

I've heard that F-Zero's Virtual Console release will be in 60Hz, which is fantastic! It proves without doubt that Nintendo listened to the 50Hz outcry, because F-Zero was in 50Hz on both SNES (of course) and VC originally. I truly hope this is only the beginning of being offered 60Hz versions.

SO here's my personal request to WiiU owners, it's only 30p, BUY IT and show Nintendo that their userbase approves heavily of this move! It's the best way to show them that their decision was a good one that will hopefully remain for the future! (By posting in Miiverse of course!)

Also would be a good place to show demand for a WiiU F-Zero game :3

It's brilliant news, and extremely pleasing that Nintendo actually listened and acted. I've already sent out my thanks to Nintendo for giving fans what they asked for. I just hope this is the norm for the future now, and not just either a one-off or will only happen for various games. It's a great start, though, and all will be forgiven if this is the future of PAL VC. Now I wish I had a Wii U just to buy the game! But you can be sure that there's now a strong chance of me actually buying VC games instead of not buying them at all if this is the future.

I thought you add the exact amount you need (like on PSN)?

I'd like someone to show me where then... because on both 3DS and Wii U, when I try to add funds, I'm only offered to add 10, 20, and 2 other amounts which I can't remember now.

Cubed3 Limited Staff :: Review and Feature Writer

Should be an option when you add funds with your CC to add "Required Amount Only."
