A bit of a longshot because I'm not sure how many sportsmen are on here, but is anyone a tennis fan? Over the last few years I've got well in to it and have been watching the French Open, Queens, and now Wimbledon this year. Anyone else watching Wimbledon? Got quite a few favourites - Nadal, Murray, Roddick. But definitely want Murray to win. Probably my favourite sport to play after football too. I got pretty good last year in the summer.

YES! Been watching it since the days of Henman.

Loved Murray's Queen's matches against Roddick especially and Tsonga too. My faves are Murray and Nadal, never really liked Feds, he's way too cocky especially during Wimbledon.

I do hope Murray wins a grand slam in his time, he's getting close but I don't know if he has the oomph to really push it that step further like Djovick has in recent years.

I'm definitely not good at tennis, wish I was! Badminton's more my game.

Nice. Murray played awesome in Queen's and stuffed Roddick, who is great on grass. Tsonga is great to watch and I like him a lot more since seeing him in Queen's too, but Murray deserved to win that tournament. Agree on Federer; I've always thought the same thing that he's cocky and his excuses about the balls being different for his reason he was shit in (I think) the French was laughable. I could be wrong about him, but meh, much prefer Nadal to him.

Murray's really improved over the last year, but so has Djokovic, and that was evident with his unbeaten run. I agree, it might be harder for Murray to quite step it up like Djokovic has, but I certainly think he's capable going on recent form. Just hope I don't end up missing the big Murray matches due to work this year!

Hah, I played badminton loads in school and out too. I think all racket sports are good - I also got into squash a few years back, which really made you sweat. I really wanna play tennis again though. All the recent coverage has got me so in the mood. I was looking at which tennis game to buy because of this too - either Virtua Tennis 4 or Top Spin 4. Heard mixed things about both though. Neither seems to be truly brilliant, which is a damn shame :L

Djokovic is a beat, a serious beast! I do hope Murray beats him though, but he, Nads and Fed are looking unstoppable atm though.

Feds is way too "look at me, I'm the best" but not what he says, but the way he acts, especially with that annoying suit he wore and that one year in Wimbledon when he had X wins already on his shirt or something, before Nadal beat him in that epic final!

DO NOT buy VT4 on Wii... *shudder*

I listen to the matches at work via Radio 5 Live sport - tis very different to watching!

Ha, I play tennis and watch it constantly. I've been playing for I think 7 or 8 years now, but haven't picked up a racket in a while.

I used to like Roddick a lot, but he got way too cocky and doesn't win titles that much. I used to hate Federer, Idk why lol. But now I respect him a ton. I actually think he's really humble. Nadal's extremely fun to watch as he goes all out on every point. Djokovic is great to watch too.

And sorry, but I don't like Andy Murray. He comes off as a tool lol. Oh, and sorry for all the females out there, but I can't watch women's tennis. Actually, I can't watch any women's sports except for the Olympics events. I'm not trying to be sexist, it's just that, it's not that exciting.

I like Roddick's humour. He likes to have a laugh, even on the court. Nadal is just a bloody nice bloke. You can see it in the way he says thank you to everyone and lets the opponent always cross his side first to sit down. Just a gentleman on and off the court.

I like Murray. I love his mannerisms. He looks like he could kill someone sometimes Smilie

Oh, don't worry jb, I never buy multiplat games on the Wii, jesus XD Will have to have another look into the games at some point and hope I can pick one up for cheapish. VT4 PS3 is still 20 quid, and TS4 is more again. Gonna wait I reckon.

Gutted, working 3-10pm today so missing all the mens matches. Murray and Nadal to go through easily. I think the 18 year old Tomic could give Djokovic a game, but expect the latter to get the job done, and maybe Tsonga to cause an upset against Federer. Well, I hope he can, but doubt he will. Tsonga's been looking good though lately.

Gutted for one of my fave womens players, Pironkova :[ Probably gonna route for qualifier Lisicki now, although Sharapova looks good (literally).

Hmmm - quarters will probably be all 4 top seeds imo, don't think Tsonga has it in him to beat Federer.

I think Murray/Nadal would be at least 4 sets, possibly 5 - but Nadal to come through imo.

Then on the Federer side, another stupidly close match with Djokovic but Federer to slide through to a classic Nadal/Federer final.

Here's hoping a Murray/Djokovic final, but I don't think the scot's quite up to champion standard just yet.

Tsonga did it. I only got to see the last couple games of that match and Federer wasn't playing that great. And even when Federer did move him around with deep shots, Tsonga returned with incredible shots of his.

Staff Member

WOW... Just wow! I take back what I said. Madness! Feds out, Tsonga in.

Still don't think Murray has it in him to beat whoever comes out of the Fish/Nadal match (most likely Nadal imo). That said, really great play from Murray today Smilie

Repeat of Queen's final? Maybe!

Shit I'm so gutted I missed these matches now. Saw Fed take the first 2 sets, but I had to leave for work. For some reason, I believed Tsonga could still do it. He got into it in the 2nd set, forcing the tiebreak, and I just thought he had it in him to come back. He's in great form, especially coming out of the final at Queen's. I seriously should have put a bet on it now.

Murray's playing really well, but so is Nadal. It's such a shame that Murray has to go through a player like Nadal in order to win slams because Murray's playing like he deserves to win one. I'm backing Andy to cause an upset.

And you know, I reckon Tsonga can beat Djokovic too. Djok has had a fantastic year, obviously, but I've seen him make uncharacteristic errors at Wimbledon this year, and with Tsonga's form, I think he has a chance.

I'd love to see the odds on a Murray-Tsonga final.

Oooh, Murray Tsonga would be really interesting. Not that I'm sick of watching Nadal, Federer, and Djokovic in the finals all the time, more so as to see something different. I don't think Tsonga can pull it off against Djokovic, he's been way too good this year. Same with Murray and Nadal. Most likely it is gonna be Djokovic Nadal.

Such a shame for Lisicki. Seems like such a lovely girl. Always smiling, even when points don't go her way. Really wanted her to overcome Maria. I think she'll come back a lot stronger from this though.

I quite fancy Kvitova in the final, especially if Maria doesn't up her service game.

Mens semi final day! I'm going with the underdogs, Murray and Tsonga. Genuinely think they've both got it in them to make the final.

Anyone watching the final? I think going on results of this year, Djokovic might edge this one, but it's so close to call.

I had Kvitova right for the women too. So gutted the tournament's almost over! US Open seems so far away.

Murray was shamefully beaten - in some ways it was like Nadal gave him that first set. Watching a few games for the final then probably popping out. Reckon Nadal will take this in 4.

Hmm, well I do think Murray played well in the first set, but for sure, Nadal tore him apart in the last 3.

Djokovic-Tsonga match was quality! Lots of dives and great tennis from both.

Well, got both final predictions right. Djok truly is the best in the world right now. Lost one match all year and two Grand Slams in the bag. Well deserved.

I get the feeling the US Open is going to be on Sky or something when it starts so I'm gonna be pissed about that. I never thought I'd say this but I think I might be more into tennis right now than I am football. I really want to start watching all the Slam tournaments. Man, I so wish I'd gone further with tennis in school.

I watched the first 3 sets, then had to go somewhere. It looked like Nadal could've turned it around, but I guess he didn't. It's crazy how Djokovic is like the only person who can make Nadal somewhat tired from running back and forth.

ModeratorStaff Member

This is the standard I want to get to XD

Check the rally at 3:10.

Taking coaching lessons now and hoping I can get to a really good standard in a few months. I'm decent now, but still a lot of work to be done. Would love to get to a standard where I can consistently smash it back just over the net continuously.

One of the best finals in tennis history, surely. What a time to be a tennis fan. Djok is something else, he really is. I do feel sorry for Nadal, since he's lost 7 finals in a row against him, but what more can you do? Incredible. 6 hours of play too!
