Have you seen this thing? It's a brilliant idea. I'm just going to post the video. It'll do a much better job explaining what MaKey MaKey is than I will.

The Kickstarter page is HERE. I plan to donate to it after I get some money, hopefully in about a week or so.

What ideas can you come up with for this thing?

Well the video isn't playing for me, mind atleast trying to explain for those of us who lack the nessecary plugins?

I'll give it a shot.

Alright, fundamentally it is USB controller. On the front it has four "buttons" that trigger arrow keys, a "button" that triggers the spacebar, and a "button" that triggers the left mouse click (and on the back there are more "buttons" for other keyboard keys).

You can attach alligator clips to each "button." One end is attached the controller button, the other end is attached  to pretty much whatever. All that seems necessary is for the thing you connect it to is able to conduct a little bit of electricity. 
(There is also a wire you connect to yourself and the controller to complete the connection).

The point:
This means you can turn practically anything into buttons. They start off by making essentially an NES pad layout with blobs of Play-Doh. Later, they show in the video is a piano program, but instead of a musical or computer keyboard, they use a row of bananas and a set of stairs. They make a DDR pad out of four buckets of water, and they literally draw out a kind of D-Pad with pencil on a piece of paper to play Pacman (the graphite apparently conducts electricity).

There was also a cool application that wasn't just controller. They hooked it up to a cat's bowl of water (and in front of the bowl was a tinfoil sheet, to complete the connection). Next to the bowl was the laptop the controller was connected to. When the cat drank the water, it triggered a button and the computer took a picture of the cat.
