Name That Tune Contest - Episode VI
"Boss Themes" Edition

Hoping to get more than five entries this time. It's E3, so maybe more people will notice it...

This contest's theme is Boss Themes. So all tracks featured are the boss themes from certain games that have appeared on Nintendo consoles.

Video software was being a pain in the arse, so couldn't get an image to display through the video. Please turn annotations on to see the track numbers.

The 25 tracks can be heard below:

To Enter

All you have to do is listen to the 25 music clips in the above YouTube video, and tell me which game they come from. PM me your entry! Do not post your answers in this thread or anywhere else on the forum. Please title your PM something relevant, like "Contest Entry from (your username)", and if you don't have an answer for a clip, leave it blank.

Example:
1. Tetris
2. Super Mario 64
3.
4. Donkey Kong Land

Scoring

1 point for a correctly guessed game.
Half a point for guessing the correct series.

So if the game was Super Mario World, but you guessed Super Mario Bros 3, you'd get half a point.

Prizes

Stars are the rewards. Everyone finishing in the top 5 will receive a set amount of stars. Anyone that finishes outside of the top 5 will receive 1 star for participating.

1st place - 20 stars
2nd place - 10 stars
3rd place - 5 stars
4th place - 3 stars
5th place - 2 stars

Closing Date

No set date yet because I know next week is going to be very busy. Will possibly be next weekend or into the following week. Will announce it in the thread.

Rules and Notes

1. Couple of hints. For this edition, all of the tunes come from games on ANY Nintendo platform. That ranges from NES to Wii, including portables. Generally, the boss themes are themes played in most/all of the boss encounters in each game. There may be one or two instances of character-specific boss themes, but I've tried not to make this happen where possible. In a future edition, I can do character-specific boss themes. Hopefully that will help a little.

2. Again, do not post your answers in this thread or elsewhere on the forum. PM me your answers.

3. No asking for answers or discussing the answers with others on here. That would be completely unfair for those genuinely trying hard. Anyone caught cheating will be disqualified.

4. If you want to submit a correction, you can. Just PM me again with your updated answers.

5. In the events of equal scores, whoever PM'd me first will be taken into consideration as to who wins. Your most recently submitted entry will be taken if you corrected something, so bare this in mind.

6. If a song has appeared in more than one game, post the instance that this version appears from. If the version is in more than one game, post the first game it came from.

7. Don't worry if you think you cannot guess them all. Do your best and take a guess; you could still get a half point or even better! There is no penalty for a wrong answer!

8. No extra credit is given to guessing the name of the song. It would make it more difficult to guess the song name, so just the game name only please!

9. Be exact in your answer. If the game is a sequel, include the full title or sequel number.

10. I will announce the winners in this thread as soon as I've counted up the scores after the contest ends.

Feedback is always appreciated for these. I have plenty of ideas in mind for future editions, but please share yours in this thread, too! Hope you guys enjoy this one!

Notes:

- Main thing to note first of all is that the boss theme for #21 Sonic CD never actually appeared on a Nintendo console. The boss theme used in the Sonic Gems Collection version was the US boss theme, not the EU/JP version which I used in the quiz. I assumed differently on that one, but anyone that guessed it still got their point. Thanks to SuperLink for pointing it out.
Edit: Rudy correctly pointed out the Japanese version of Gems uses the EU/JP soundtrack, so nevermind!

- Lots of half points for people that said Lylat Wars or Star Fox 64. The one used in the quiz was from Star Fox 64 3D, which is more distinctive than the original N64 version. So people saying the 3D version got full marks.

- No one guessed #14 Donkey Kong Land.

- Marzy's half points: #2 for saying Pokemon Diamond/Pearl, #5 for saying Pikmin, #9 for saying Mario & Luigi: Inside Story, #16 for Lylat Wars, #17 for Kirby's Dream Land.

- bornforthis43's half points: #2 for Pokemon, #16 for Star Fox 64, #22 for Zelda, #24 for Donkey Kong 64.

Number 10 was such a bitch XD, can't believe I couldn't figure it out. Also I knew the Star Fox one sounded a little different but I completely forgot SF643D existed.
Other than that Rudy sure does know his boss themes.

The 3 I didn't get are from games I have too Smilie ... Actually the whole list is comprised of games I either own or have at least played.

The only one I truly couldn't have found was indeed #14, because despite owning that game, I never played much of it. FF2, I never played in its Famicom version, so I doubt I could have found it anyway.

EDIT: Didn't that version of the Sonic CD boss theme appear at least on the Japanese version of Sonic Gems on Gamecube?
