I liked these monthly threads and wanted to bring them back up again. I've listened to TONS of new stuff lately (this is probably gonna be a long post haha)

First, Lupe Fiasco's new album, The Great American Rap Album Pt.1 came out recently. Wow, am I happy that he's back to his old self. Not nearly as good as Food and Liquor or The Cool, but WAYYYYYYYYY better than Lasers. I wish production wise that he'd lay off the synth and pop-ish beats. Lyrics are on point though. Here's Form Follows Function, a lyrical masterpiece. Incredible imagery and use of metaphors.

I also really like Around My Way (Freedom Ain't Free), Cold War, Put Em Up, Go To Sleep, Hood Now, and Unforgivable Youth. There were some Lasers leftover songs though, but overall good.

Dumbfoundead's new album, Take the Stares, is gonna come out in a couple weeks. Here's his first single, Growing Young. Sick music video by the way.

I finally got a chance to listen to How I Got Over by The Roots. An incredible album. Very jazzy and soul-filled. Seriously I could put links to all of the songs (barring the last two). Here's Walk Alone http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ODIUNAsF59Y

Ok, now let's switch it up from hip hop to more singer/songwriter stuff. I really liked Kimbra's album Vows. Nice voice. Also pretty jazzy. Here's Settle Down http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yHV04eSGzAA
(though I do find her arm movements really creepy lol).

Clara C's new album, esc, recently came out as well. I really enjoyed it. Her voice is definitely one of my favorites. I can't find a youtube link to False Start, my favorite song, but here's Fish. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WuWTWPPtLtM&feature=plcp

There's tons of stuff, upcoming and past, that I've yet to listen to. My list keeps getting bigger but college keeps coming in the way. At least it's good that the Wii hasn't come out with many games recently or else I wouldn't even be doing my homework.

What music have you guys been listening to?

Not too much lately.

I discovered The Antlers about two or three months back and they're great. I've also been listening to Bon Ivers self-entitled album (their second album, I think) and lastly Grizzly Bear's new album, which is really fantastic!

So overall, music I'm really enjoying listening to.

Oh, and this!

I'll have to check some of your links out some time. I got pretty into that one guy you linked to a while back. Can you tell me his name again? Some rapper, Asian looking but American I think. His song was him sitting across the table from another girl, but he ended up with a different (not as good looking) girl.

I'm out of the loop with some stuff, but I always have Radio 1 on in work so I get to know a lot of the latest charts stuff. I have a very broad taste in music so a lot of stuff is random and probably not to many others' likings on here.

Became a bit obsessed with Ellie Goulding's Anything Could Happen recently, especially as I keep hearing parts of Sonic 3's Carnival Night Zone in the background!

Also fell for Amelia Lily's You Bring Me Joy until I heard this remix of it, which I seem to prefer.

Heard the lyrical version of Deadmau5's Professional Griefers on the radio not long ago and found out it never had lyrics to begin with. Would love to be at a gig like this:

Lyrical version, which I really like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hr2Bc5qMhE4

Always happy to hear the latest Eminem stuff, too. Worked with Slaughterhouse for some stuff.
Our House: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o1oXLZfQqF8
Asylum: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BNc014Yc7pI
Throw That: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xedxt0ovI7o

Also just discovered some guy called DJ Bl3nd last night. Pretty sick.

And so he introduced me to a tune from a few years ago which I hadn't heard before:
I Like That ft. Luciana: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x8eDyCRa0mY

And then there's random oldies stuff from the 90s I've been digging, bringing back the memories! Just makes me smile when I hear them XD

I've been sick of my own library recently, been grabbing music from friends for awhile, the stuff I've been enjoying:

Gomez: Whippin' Piccadilly

Trombone Shorty: Hurricane Season (Live)

Ween: How High Can You Fly

And while we're on the subject of music, please give my new jam a listen. Smilie

I really like this cover of the song from Spirited Away. It changes the feeling of the song completely but for some reason gets away with it. Besides, Japanese music is normally shite.
