"Sold Out", haha.
Apparently you can't get the on-screen map up if you're using a pro controller..... Oh Nintendo, why, just why do you mess up the most simplest of things. It's just stupid.
Guys. A few really interesting things.
Now, look at the icons for the "dlc" cups that hackers found on the disc;
Its appearance is slightly different, but only the Yoshi one is used. This could mean two things, either the icons found ondisc were placeholders and are no longer relevant, or there could be even more dlc cups in the future.
Last interesting thing is based on a rumour:
Marzy said:You can but you have to hit the Minus button on the GamePad to bring it up. Minus button on Pro pad doesn't work. Stupid, definitely. But it's the only way to do it atm. Hopefully they patch that in the next update.

You can upload full races? Wonder why I haven't seen any mention of that until now. Pretty cool, too bad my upload speed is shit, though. Uploading a full 3 minute race would take me anywhere from 40 to 50 minutes, based on my times in the past.
Actually I just tried to upload a full race and it didn't work. I'm calling shenanigans.
You should have expanded the description on the YouTube video.

They must have edited it once they realised people would take it seriously.

Anyone notice any improvements in balancing?
I read on Gaf that you can't keep Triple Bananas around you for ages now, they drop off over time. However, I tried it out and they stayed for me, so I don't think that's true at all.
I read about that Diddy Kong Racing rumour before, it actually seems pretty plausible! I would so love it to happen, it's one my most wanted sequels, especially after we lost Donkey Kong Racing on the Gamecube, that hurt.
Really hope it turns out true. Though the excitement I'd feel might kill me. x)
If I had to complain about the DLC, I think calling it Zelda X MK and only giving us Link is a bit lame. Okay there's a Triforce cup I guess, but still. Couldn't they have actually done three Zelda characters - Link, Zelda and obvs Malon? Same with AC X MK - it's just two AC characters, but that's still more than the one from the Zelda pack. Then you coulda had Tanooki Mario, Cat Peach and Dry Bowser in a Marioish pack, or DB coulda gone in a new villains pack.
It's still great, but I think the naming of the packs is pretty odd considering you only get one Zelda character. Coulda done things differently and better imo.
btw can someone tell me what message my Mii says on the Wii U home screen? I see everyone else's latest Miiverse posts but my Mii just says 'I've been playing MK8' or whatever game it is...every time. Does it show my latest post on your screens?
I think the naming is a bit weird too, but I can understand why we didn't get more Zelda characters.
Making a totally unique model with its own unique set of animations is expensive and time consuming, especially a more complex one like Link. I think out of all the DLC, he's probably been the most difficult to create from a development perspective, so they chucked him in the DLC pack that had the 2 cheapest/easiest to balance out the price.
I think if the Zelda pack had more unique characters in it, the asking price would be much higher or they would be less likely to break even on it. So it's weirdly/badly titled, but the actual content of the DLC makes sense from a development perspective.
Nah, I'm not having that tbh. The 2nd update is in May next year. Obvs it's more work to design new characters from scratch but they have a lot of time to make 2 to 3 new models for a May update. Zelda update coulda come in May and copy/pastes of Mario/Peach/whatever coulda come in November.
And I don't think price would be an issue. Everyone's going on about how good value this all is - they still could bump it up a little if they needed to and people would be all over a bigger Zelda character pack.
But it's still great and I'm happy and slapped my pre-order down to support this shit and hopefully send the message they should keep doing it. I just hope the May update won't be the last. I think the hopefully good sales of the DLC will show they should keep making more.
And now I want Zelda playable as well for a Link and Zelda death stare xD
It's also just nice to see SS Link getting rep outside of SS for once after the disappointment that it's still TP Link and Zelda in SSB4. Good to see them go with SS Link here. The style obvs fits well to MK8, but damn SS Zelda needs love too.
MORE! Would so be up for 2 more packs by the end of 2015, for sure. Or at least classic battle stages.
I wonder how online will work?
Zelda really could have been a Peach/Daisy clone just remodelled if they were really that lazy.
Totally agree Az - SS Link could have fit Smash Bros a bit more, especially with their less saturated approach this time.
Still, am totally pumped for more retro levels.
I want to see them change the power ups. Sick of the new rules, impossible to catch up to first place. I'm happy that there's new characters and karts, but they need to work on the engine. All they're doing is scruffing in some new models which take them a couple of days to throw together, just to shut up the uneducated fans (Azuardo for example, clearly doesn't know much about the Nintendo Megadrive).
I want it to play like Mario Kart Wii. Not because I'm against change etc, but because it was actually better.
And have they sorted the jaggies yet?
Nintendo are the same as EA and I am both shocked and offended.

I'm personally enjoying 8 far more than Wii, Wii's items were just hectic and all over the place constantly, I dropped that game extremely quickly and can't enjoy it much to this day. 8's track design is also amazing in comparison imo, but I realise I may not be the majority opinion there.
Also, same as EA? EA announce DLC before the game's launch, which is locked on disc, charge microtransactions for things you can get in the game, and here Nintendo are offering an extra third of the game's worth in content for under a third of the price of the game. Most developers would charge separately for each character (for example most games charge about £3-5 for characters, some even charge £3 for costumes). This is nowhere near the same as EA even if it's not exactly perfect either.

lol don't take Hoj seriously ;p
He's a fanny noob who could only play MKWii on auto-drift.

I'm using motion controls!
Who's playing MK8 online with me?
Might be on a bit later Marz'. I still have to update myself actually XD, haven't downloaded the patch yet
EDIT: correction, it updated itself in sleep mode. Bless Nintendo for auto-updates ^^. Should be online later.

@SirLink: That's true.
Hoj was always Mario in an auto-drift Blooper kart. The noobiest combination I've ever seen in my life. Used to work for him sometimes though lol. He used to wait on the finish line if he was ahead of me so I could get more points online.
It's just the item balancing and nerfing of certain ones, and all the negative/missing things I've mentioned before that's made MK8 feel a bit disappointing and not quite as fun as MKWii for us in parts. The item issues we've had and finding it difficult to catch the people in higher positions has been annoying. Still great tho obvs. We need to spend more time with it and once the patches and DLC start rolling in, things will be much better.
That last EA line should have been the giveaway Hoj was pissing about ; ) (and he makes games too, so he does know about game design and shit... he's just being a goon. I'll kick his head in when I see him)
