It's been ages since we had a monthly music thread. It used to be a common monthly discussion back in the day, but seems to have died off since Robsy hasn't been around.  I'm heavily into my music, so I thought I'd take reins and create a new one!

What music have you been listening too this month? Have you been listening to any new albums or new artists?

For me, I've found it hard to discover that much decent new bands or albums in the past year or so. I've mostly just been listening to the same stuff over and over. The latest TV on the Radio album is pretty great (one of my favourites from them!) and I quite like that album by Leon Bridges, Coming Home. It has a classic Motown sound to it.

I've also been listening to a song called Shine, by Years & Years, which is pretty catchy pop stuff!

I had a little listen to the new Muse album, but I'm not really feeling it. I much prefer their older stuff. other than that though, just been listening to lots of videogame music!

Got back into an Eminem groove recently. Love some of the tunes where he puts in a rare singing voice.

Beautiful always will be one of my faves.

Can't beat Forgot About Dre. Em actually wrote the whole thing.

Rap God is amusing as hell, not least because it contains the most words in a hit single - 1,560. I can never take my eyes off it. Actually references some games like Mario, Portal and Pong in the video, too.

Space Bound is a confusing love story and shows different sides to dealing with tough relationships.

No Love samples the classic What Is Love by Haddaway.

Usual EDM remix stuff on top of that, but mostly Em atm.

  • Hard-Fi
Oddly, a pair of bands I haven't listened to in a while. Been back at Muse too recently, getting a bit more of the guitar groove on. Muse's new album, Drones, is a grower.

Am also trying to slot in time to write/produce my own music, but it's going slow at the moment!

Aye - has grown on me a bit!

Not much new bands/artists. But I have started to dare to listen to some of Blutengel's newest albums. Prefer old Blutengel everyday though, more stable quality so to speak... And the fact that it makes me feel like the biggest hipster in town when I can say I listened to them before they became cool XD (guilty pleasure of mine). But especially Krieger is a nice modern Blutengel track.

I have also rediscovered my love for the older Lacrimosa albums. They had a feel to it that is rarely found outside of the early to mid 90's German music scene (namely the Neue Deutche Toteskünst genre which is sadly almost non-existent today... Smilie ). Especially Der Letze Hielfeschrei has been played quite a lot recently.

Other worthwhile mentions on this month's music department for me that bears no such things as rediscovery old love or daring to explore new areas, but still has ran frequently through my speakers are:

Lacuna Coil: Heir of a Dying Day. My favorite track from my favorite album from my all time favorite band. Nothing gets me as relaxed as popping in this CD in the computer, turn the sound up and plug in the headset and just closing my eyes and letting myself drift away. A very sweet song and album to listen to when I am upset over something and just needs to get away for a while.

Blutengel: Soul of Ice. My favorite track to listen to when I feel really down. I sincerely love it and it is one of my all time favorite songs as it has that "this song is all about me" feel to me that some songs has... XD Always, always running on all of my playlists. No exceptions. If I had to say one single song I could not live without, it is this one.

So, yeah. That is what's running hot through my speakers in July. X3 Hopefully my August entry to this list does have something new and interesting. I think about taking a day and browse through youtube for new bands to listen to. Smilie

The difference between illusion and reality is vague to the one who suffers from the former and questionable for the one suffering form the later.

Beirut's new track is great.
