Paper Mario 2 - Its a bit shit, isn't it?

I am trying to like it, but just can't. I've had the gc pad in my hands for the last hour. It took me 15 minutes to mute the volume and put a cd on because the music was that bad.

Its impossible to move properly, as they have decided in some moment of madness to not let you move the camera, and yet have 3d enviroments; the combat is old fashioned and irritating. There is little actual thought required for those over the age of 8, so why have it turn based? (especially when enemies are so easy to kill- annoying repetitive turn based combar in games like Breath of Fire was no problem, because there was a challenge on the lower levels.)

..and its so fucking slow. Animations for winning fights, starting fights, picking up items, doesn't seem to be a skip cutscene button, and insanely irritation sound. (as mentioned above).

Please tell me my GC isn't going to go for another 6 months (or whatever it was) without play...

I didn't get on with it that well when I played it...but apparently it's great, so I'll leave it to be appreciated by those who do get on with it

What are you talking about? The music isn't shit, just play mario golf, or tennis, then you know what shitty music is.
And to answer you last question; no, because in March you'll buy RE4, won't you?

You realise that March is the month of all wallet pain, and that I won't be able to afford any games, right?

Edit- and yes, the music/sound is bad. Its really repetitive, and boring. (and why do they have to have every little speach bubble letter have a little tapping sound as characters speak?)

No RE4! Heck, I'd be out on the street selling my body to get that game... as for Paper Mario, I guess you are just one of the people who dodn't enjoy it (I feel the same way about F-Zero GX).

the RE series has let me down so many times before that I find it difficult to be excited about the latest. (even if it is the greatest).

Ok, the music isn't great, but I'd give it a 7. This game is all about the gameplay and the humour though, like the bits with Luigi and Bowser. Also, the chapter with the glitzpit was really fun, and I think Twilight Town was great too, especially the part with the ravens talking!

Luigi's tale and the ravens coversations are probably my favourite moments.

I agree with Martin. I just can't get used to it. I thought Superstar Saga was a bit crap becuase I hate the poor (repetive) fighting system. It's all a bit crap really.

However, MP2:E certainly has grown on me...

I do like it and i was hooked. Getting to the Thousand Year Door over and over is quite annoying but thats about it thats bad. Oh and its length isnt the best.

I'm really dissapointed. If I had paid for it I would be pissed off.

I would rate it average. However, I would rather play MP2:E, MP, Donkey Konga, F-Zero GX, Soul Calibur 2, Super Mario Sunshine, SSBM and more over it.

I like the game overall though, but its not as perfect as people make out - and not nearly as good as the N64 version.

I'm going to give it more of a chance beam, just though I would post up my early dissapointment.. I do like the injokes though.

I was going to play this game but not even Beam is being totally enthusiastic about it.

Play metroid Prime 2: Echoes instead Matt, if you havn't already. It's far better than Paper Mario 2.

Was going to play Star Ocean though. Purely in the name of research and comparison mind you.

I kind of felt it was a bit boring at first too, if your used to much more fast paced games (Pro Evolution 4 in my case) then it does feel pretty tiresome sometimes. The music is painful too, I have to be in the mood really, but when I do get into it, I think it's a blast.

Reading everything you have said, it kind of sounds like you don't like turn based RPs that much, though I haven't played it that much, but I still thought it was very cool.

I love Breath of Fire, Final Fantasy...

The end is nigh...and TP sent me the new deluxe version. Gotta keep those ghosts down...I sure as hell hope you don't block my Shadow sig!!

I knew I was going to find out that you loved RPs and my post was wrong, just had to prove it to myself...eh...

I'll actually play the game for a decent period of time before I disagree, though I am a little worried now, as I thought this played really well at Game Stars. But I like the battle system, as simplicity wins me over all the time.
