Some of the abuse from Spanish players were so bad, when it got posted in the forums for a translation not a single Spanish player translated it, all we got was a small number of the Spanish members asking us and the mods to remove it as it was extremly vulgar, aggressive and dis-tasteful, much of it being about the person's mother and was something they didn't want to see let alone translate.

Comment by Arkyris, on 21.06.2005 at 00:02

I never said the problem didn't exist. What I am saying is that it's not a big enough problem for me to actively criticise Blizzard, or to not recommend the game to a prospective player.

That's a program based problem though. The servers are still officially flagged as English. It's a program, it can't tell the difference. They may, or may not change the programming for the European version. As I said before, to change these servers from English to another language will ostrcize a community, either the English, or the un-official servers.

Depends on the legal loopholes. It is illegal to intice someone to break the law. Though is it illegal to intice someone to break a contract? A legal binding contract is only between two parties. A third party cannot be held accountable for the actions of either of the two parties involved. Well, that's my understanding.

EULA's were found null and void in courtrooms not to long ago.

Unless we have a different definition of abuse this is the biggest problem I see. I meant abuse as in they are swearing at you, and/or calling you derogatory names or saying derogatory comments.

[ Edited by Arkyris on 2005/6/21 14:03 ]

Comment by MattEvansC3, on 20.06.2005 at 23:39

But if you were on an affected server, which one would you move to? Unless you checked every spanish/finnish/russian/etc. forum you wouldn't know.

The complaints have been in the forums for well over five months, Blizzard's GMs have posted in such topics, they know which servers are having language problems. When the menu suggests you a server based on your language, they are suggesting servers HOSTILE to your chosen language.

I can no longer print out the part of the EULA as the Battlegrounds patch comes with the updated EULA but at the time the complaints were being made it was stated in the EULA, the PUBLIC messages had to be in the language designated by ther server

"Public We consider language to be public when said in the "General" and "Trade" channels as well as with the "yell" command and the

Comment by Arkyris, on 20.06.2005 at 23:01
But it DOESN'T because i'm not on these servers. If I were I would just move servers.

They have also tried to seperate the population by using character transfers. It was organised within that server that all the english speaking players would move, and the Spanish would stay. You know what happenend in that case? The spanish players followed because the population diminished, and their guilds moved, creating the same problem in the server they were transferring to.

I don't really get what you're trying to say here, are you talking about the client suggesting a specific server to the player, which were un-official language servers, and therefore labelled correctly as English? Or are you talking about Blizzard moving players from their high population server to a low population un-official language server?

In the second case it could help with the situation, with a large influx of English speaking players then the non-english speaking players would be flooded with English chat and either conform or have a painful time communicating.

If you could point out to me in the EULA where it says that you aren't allowed to say that a specific server will be your languages un-official server then I would be greatful. Ignoring, of course, that the sites aren't necessarily under the EULA anyway because you have to accept that when starting the game.

Blizzard had no legal standing to stop these people from announcing that they would forcably take control of the General chat in the servers.

Then devise a flawless plan that will stop one of the populations from being ostracised.

I would add that if any of the English speaking players took abuse then they should have taken screenshots and posted to Blizzard's Harrasment group, Blizzard take harrasment very seriously and these players face possible banning.

Comment by evilflame, on 19.06.2005 at 15:38

You could try adventure quest though i don't like it (its free but you can upgrade your account)

Comment by The Lego King, on 19.06.2005 at 14:33

Wow is the only one I recommend. I only play it once every few days so I never really get bored and I still level pretty well due to the double experience :-D
It's kinda anoying when you join a party only to have everyone in it speaking sweedish, but that's the only down side I can think of :-)
