Lighter than you would expect, but heavier than the Pro Controller. If you're sitting cross-legged and it resting in your lap, it'd be fine. Holding it up with one hand can get quickly tiresome. I'm sure some added bulky battery pack will still be alright. Wait for some reviews when they finally arrive.

Comment by RudyC3, on 19.06.2012 at 09:34

So do you guys think the Gamepad is actually too light?

I ask because I was thinking about investing in a bigger third party battery with longer life than the stock one (these are bound to get manufactured once the console is out). The lid on the back of the controller seems to be where the battery is lodged, so perhaps it would be easy to replace, and a bigger, beefier one could make it more long-lasting in terms of battery life while adding some weight at the same time, making it all the more comfortable?

Gotta say my larger 3DS battery, while adding a bulk which isn't very practical for fitting the console in a pocket, proved to make the console more comfortable and stable in my hands, for me.

Indeed.

Happened with someone at my house :) (I won't say who to avoid the shame... I once posted the video on Youtube because I was filming at the time and the video was shared by far too many people who would recognize him afterwards :/)

The strap was removed too, and while playing Wii Sports bowling, the Wiimote went right into my old CRT TV screen. Luckily the rubber anti-shock protection thingie was around it, so it rebounded off the screen without even scratching it, but the Wiimote DID fly accross the room :P. I foresee disaster. Remember how Nintendo even had to change the Wii Remote strap type to the clip version? Yes, there are many people that cannot hold things without having accidents and then trying to blame the manufacturer!

I'm surprised the Balance Board doesn't have 'trainer bars' on either side  ;)

Any more questions, please do tell - this is good feedback :)

Comment by Guest, on 18.06.2012 at 22:39

Also, are you genuinely concerned about the lack of a strap Adam? I took mine off my wiimotes immediately and have never flung my wiimote across the room as a result.

I'm interested, has anyone actually had a wiimote-related injury?

Broken nose? Bit of carpal tunnel?

Or perhaps broken their TV/Wiimote?

Maybe a nervous breakdown as a result of a zelda game being shit?

A Zelda game? Shit? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I nearly did but it was OK. The bosses were good and it was pretty.

Comment by Guest, on 18.06.2012 at 21:07
If you read It again, that's what I did say...

Comment by Sonic_13, on 18.06.2012 at 20:46
It looks like the sensor bar on the GamePad isn't as wide as the regular sensor bar. This shorter space between the grouping of lights (assuming they are patterned the same as the regular bar) might compensate for the much closer distance a player would be when playing.( Edited 18.06.2012 20:46 by Sonic_13 )

Comment by Guest, on 18.06.2012 at 20:42

I haven't read very far but questions are jumping out at me.

The gamepad screen is casually described by Adam as HD. Is it? I remember back when it was announced I was under the impression it was 720 but recently I've been seeing it referred to as 480. Not HD. Clarification?

JB, do you mean wary? Also, caution? really? You were a very different teenager to me.

Comment by Adam Riley, on 18.06.2012 at 20:39

Looking at early promo videos, you see people playing golf with the GamePad on the floor, utilising its sensor bar for accuracy, so it does seem Wii games can be played on the GamePad. However, surely there would be the standard issue of being too close to the sensor, as found with Wii...?

Comment by Sonic_13, on 18.06.2012 at 19:30

Does this mean we can play any Wii game using just the Game Pad? It does appear to come with a stand that sits the Game Pad upright.
