I will forever love & remain loyal to Nintendo....but I can see & call out their mistakes. Once they get over the biased fortification they've built themselves into things'll go back to the good old SNES days where no one questions Nintendo's quality or reputation.....but that is an extremely steep hill they'll have to climb given there are alot of newbie gamers out there who started with ps2 & later, never ONCE knowing the joy that is Nintendo.

Comment by Sonic_13, on 15.07.2012 at 18:11

Epic just seems very anti-Nintendo.

Why do I say this? They seem to have plans to bring it to every device from high end PCs to cell phones.

But Nintendo's system? No way.

Comment by Guest, on 15.07.2012 at 15:20

Tablets are still at sub-Gamecube level. Their CPU can be great, but GPU/Shaderwise they suck. The best games are like high-res PS2 stuff.

The idea that it could run on a tablet but not the WiiU was the stupid statement so its good they have "clarified" it.

Comment by Guest, on 15.07.2012 at 07:51

Epic is so generic. Look at all their tech footage of UE4. Boring, bland and uninspired. Straight out of Hollybore. Square Enix came up with such fantastic scenes. It was shadowed by the boring UE4 engine. Boring! Did I forget to mention this? BORING!

Comment by justonesp00lturn, on 15.07.2012 at 03:50

I was referring to their comments about Unreal Engine 3, but I remembered that incorrectly it seems; they said that about the 3DS as soon as it was announced, not Wii U. When Wii U was announced Epic actually gave a sort of backhanded praise for it.

That's a sort of naive way of looking at things. Ideally, yes, video games are about gameplay, but a system's hardware can and does have a direct influence on what is possiible with gameplay. Besides that, game studios don't make games just to make games. They make games to reach people, specifically to turn a profit. If it takes an entire separate team to develop an entire separate game because a platform can't keep up with three other platforms, there's very little incentive to develop for it at all. The things the Wii U brings to the table are interesting and games geared toward their use can be great, but why should every developer have to make a game with the Wii U in mind? It makes more sense to make a game that can be put on Xbox, PS3, and PC in one fell swoop with almost no effort involved beyond creating the initial game than to put effort into a different game that only one system can play. Thus we get hardcore games on other systems, and hardcore games with last-minute gimmicks tacked on on Nintendo systems. At least with the Wii U a game can be ported instead of being made from the ground-up like for Wii, but that likely won't last beyond the announcement of PS4 and 3602, unfortunately.

I'm getting a Wii U because at the very least Nintendo's games tend to be worth it, but very few third parties made anything good for the Wii, especially after the first two years, and I don't imagine the Wii U panning out much differently.

It just doesn't help when knuckleheads who have clear grudges make baseless statements and then go on to say things like "Wii U can totally run Unreal 3 - we at Epic just won't make anything for it, because, you know, because."

Comment by Stealth20k, on 15.07.2012 at 00:30

to late they are a dick

Comment by Vorash Kadan, on 14.07.2012 at 21:39

I just hope Epic doesn't act like a Dick this time & supports Nintendo. I respect experienced devs who can surprise people by doing ALOT with less instead of doing standard with plenty. Take Dead Space Extraction, No More Heroes 2 & The Last Story for example, that shows what skill & tallent can do for a game visually.

Also all this overly focused attitude on graphics is going to puncture a hole in the industry again. All the late starters will eventually get bored of the "pretty" aspect of games but they won't know why or even what to look for....it's all about the gameplay friends & I applaude devs who realize this. Sure 1080p graphics are NICE, but it's unjust to dislike a game or refuse a platform simply it doesn't look as good as another one. There are MANY times when a technically inferior game surpasses one that is more powerful.

Comment by Jacob4000, on 14.07.2012 at 19:49

Couldn't run it as in couldn't take advantage of what UE4 offers. Technically, they could probably port UE4 to anything. The point is, does it make sense to do that?

That's what they're saying here. Sure, you could put some bastardized version of UE4 on the Wii U, but it makes more sense to use UE3 for the platform. It doesn't take a genius to see the Wii U will be more in line with current gen consoles verses what they're trying to target with UE4.

Comment by justonesp00lturn, on 14.07.2012 at 19:14

If Epic is so passionate about technology, why do they keep dismissing technology they aren't privy to the specifics of? They said Wii U couldn't run Unreal as soon as the system was announced, and today they still don't know the specs (and are clearly full of shit anyway).

Comment by God, on 14.07.2012 at 17:54

This makes a lot of sense. It's weird to think a very succesful company would have a childish attitude to anything business related.
It's more likely the die hard game fans are suffering from a lack of maturity. Perhaps due to a lack of face to face social interaction?
I'm sure most will turn out great though.

Anyway, hooray for Nintendo. I'm curious to see what their next machine can produce on the technological front besides wacky and different.
