I figured as much, since the games are $60 like its competitors. But it makes sense anyway; pricing Wii U games at $50 would only help the apparent confusion people have on Wii vs. Wii U. I'm thinking the overlapping profit being made from Wii systems and games will more than cover the initial loss they're selling the Wii U at. They are expecting to ship about as many Wiis and Wii Us this holiday after all.

The Japanese game maker has seen various drops in profit margins lately, posting a staggering, but improving, figure of 27.9 billion yen in recent days. The Nintendo 3DS initially sold at a loss, however has since moved onto profit.

Likewise, senior managing director Yoshihiro Mori has confirmed that Nintendo will have to take a hit on each Wii U console sold.
