Gamescom 2026 – Day 2

Once again Cubed3’s brave heroes – erm, writers, of course – make their way to Cologne Messe. A busy and exciting day lies ahead. The first stop is Final Fantasy VII Revelation, followed by a whole cacophony of other appointments, and an event in the evening. Read on to find out what Cubed3 experienced on day 2 at Gamescom!

Bad Magpie

All the way out in the indie area was a beautiful game called Bad Magpie. The studio Milktooth consists of Catherine, Daisy and George, who have been working on their idea for a long while now, and it was amazing to see it come to fruition.

In Bad Magpie, players take control of a little magpie with only one wing that gets abandoned by its flock. When a star falls from the sky, the magpie falls in love with it and starts to collect shiny objects to present to the star. These objects are hidden within the magpie’s world that the player gets to explore. There is no flying, only walking and hopping along, and causing mischief along the way. Breaking things, annoying others, and setting things on fire are absolutely necessary to progress, and require a little bit of puzzle-solving skills.

The unique art style, however, is what makes Bad Magpie really stand out. It is very clear that the artist, Catherine, put her heart and soul into designing this game. The environments feel comfortable, like coming home after a long day out, and the colours are beautiful. Indeed, the whole game feels very personal and lovely. During an interview with Daisy and George we discovered the reason for this. Everybody working on Bad Magpie put a lot of their personal feelings and experiences into it, such as dealing with anxiety or heartbreak.

Bad Magpie does not have a definite release date yet, but we are sure to keep an eye out for it!

Turtle Beach

The next appointment with Turtle Beach was incredibly exciting; after all, it is great fun to learn about new upcoming tech products. Cubed3 got introduced to a range of products that combine functionality and design.

The Vulcan II XP is a wired mechanical RGB gaming keyboard with a range of bells and whistles. Available in black or white and with floating keys that give it a really cool look, this keyboard allows owners to personalise as needed. Users can swap or fine tune keys to get the exact feel they want in seconds thanks to the hot-swappable design that accepts 3-pin and 5-pin switches, and the keycap and switch puller that is included in the box. Despite the satisfying mechanical feel, the integrated sound-dampening foam allows for late-night playing sessions without waking up the rest of the street.

The Command Series Gaming Mice come in three variants.

MC3 Wired is a straightforward wired mouse. Zero-latency USB allows for fast and successful gaming sessions, and up to 29 programmable inputs allow for customisation. RGB lighting gives it the visual coolness factor, and onboard profiles let users save their settings for a plug-and-go.

MC5 Wireless is the wireless version. With true 8K wireless performance, gaming will stay on point and fast paced. Also allowing for up to 29 programmable functions, the personalisation aspect is taken care of as well. Battery life lasts for up to 35 hours at 8K polling, so an all-nighter will not cause any issues.

Finally, MC7 Wireless is the brand-new, top-ranked mouse in the series. It is a mouse with a screen! A Command Touch Display, to be exact. True 8K polling is available for the MC7 as well, of course. Dual hot-swappable batteries and a charging dock keep it going. Program it like you need it.

Next up is a treat for all Fortnite fans. The Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded controller, available for Xbox, PlayStation and PC, comes in a neat Fortnite-inspired design and supports wired and wireless play. Hall-effect modules are built into this beauty, so it’s time to say goodbye to drift! Meanwhile, the interchangeable components and mappable back buttons allow for a good amount of customisation. The PC version supports players even further by including a precision trackpad and keyboard/mouse emulation.

However, Nintendo Switch Fortnite fans don’t have to worry. With the Rematch controller in Fortnite style for Nintendo Switch 2, officially licensed by Epic and Nintendo, players can enjoy four RGB modes, motion controls, mappable back buttons and more during laid back, wireless play.

Stuntman Hollywood

The Stuntman franchise has been dormant for a long time. It was a real surprise when Saber announced they were reviving the series with a new entry for current gen! After going hands-on it’s great to be able to say this game hits a solid balance between making Stuntman accessible and providing a great challenge for players who want it.

It was also revealed at Gamescom that Saber has a deal with Universal Studios for Stuntman, meaning many of their movie franchises are present in the game! The last demo level at the show was Jurassic World and it was phenomenal. This is one to keep an eye on for sure!

Remothered 3: Red Nun’s Legacy

Italy, a kidnapped girl, and a mother who is hellbent to retrieve her. Remothered 3: Red Nun’s Legacy is an upcoming survival horror title that may well run a good few shivers down some spines. Feeling a lot more polished than the previous entries in the series, the monsters are more interesting, the gameplay feels smoother, and the story is dark and intriguing. Stealth is a huge element here, as players guide Susan through dark corridors and solve long forgotten mysteries. The stalking enemies are particularly stressful, and the detailed environment can be so distracting that gameplay is not always straightforward.

Horror lovers will likely find a gem here, with solid gameplay mechanics and what feels like a good story.

Remothered 3: Red Nun’s Legacy is releasing 27th October 2026 (just in time for Halloween!).

Having experienced some hands-off gameplay, the old excitement about playing The Witcher 3 came bubbling back up. Beautiful landscapes with much more detail await, and the new DLC is promising to be most intriguing!

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past is planned for release in 2027.

Worlds of Play: The Game Art Exhibition

Image for Gamescom 2026 – Day 2

Something that everyone can all agree on is that video games are art. Cubed3 was therefore delighted to be invited to an evening mixer event hosted by Tencent: Worlds of Play: The Game Art Exhibition. This exclusive exhibition was in Cologne for only three days, and featured artwork from 40 games and franchises.

After introductory speeches and ceremonial ribbon cutting, guests were invited into two groups and shown around the exhibition. Clothing from Bloober’s Medium and artwork from Layers of Fear, a giant Nautiloid as seen in Baldur’s Gate 3, artwork and figurines from the Assassin’s Creed series, and a live experience with video, music, lasers and performers only really scratches the surface of what was on offer.

It was a beautiful way to celebrate games, and the love and art that they live off of. Overall, the event was amazing, and Worlds of Play: The Game Art Exhibition is definitely one of its kind.
