UK Chart Analysis: No Holding Mario Kart World and Nintendo Switch 2 Down

Mario Kart World on Nintendo Switch 2 just cannot be stopped, with it taking the top spot back from Borderlands 4 after just a one-week absence to cater for last week’s new release. It’s a Nintendo-dominated Top 5, with Donkey Kong Bananza holding fast at No.3, plus the Nintendo Switch duo of Minecraft and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe at No.4 (up two) and No.5 (also up two). Metal Gear Solid Delta slides three to No.8, and a few titles bounce upwards: NBA 2K26 is up three to No.9 thanks to the PS5 version (88%), Super Mario Party Jamboree leaps four to No.11 (original Switch version leading the way, with a 69% share, but eShop upgrades to access the Switch 2 content aren’t tracked, so it doesn’t necessarily mean the Switch 2 ‘Jamboree TV’ version is failing), and Hogwarts Legacy rebounds from No.19 to No.13 thanks to the Switch 2 version finally pulling up its socks and scoring a 25% share this week of total sales, matching the Switch version for the past seven days. Trails in the Sky: 1st Chapter shows how the series is finally starting to make headway, landing at No.19 mainly thanks to the PS5 version (66% share vs. Switch’s 34%).

Elsewhere, Kirby and the Forgotten Land is back up from No.28 to No.22, with a 50-50% split between Switch and Switch 2 versions, Star Wars Outlaws drops hard as the impact of the new Switch 2 version wanes, free-falling from No.10 to No.26 despite great reviews and initial word of mouth. Another recent release, Cronos: New Dawn also falls hard, down from No.14 to No.30.
