UK Chart Analysis: Ghosts of Yotei in at No.1, with Super Mario Galaxy and Final Fantasy Tactics Close Behind

The UK boxed games chart has been dramatically reshaped this week, with Sony’s Ghost of Yotei storming straight to No.1. The PlayStation 5 exclusive marks a major win for Sony Computer Entertainment, knocking EA Sports FC 26 down to second place after its strong opening last week. Nintendo also makes a big splash, with Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 entering at No.3 on Switch. The double-pack of beloved classics arrives alongside Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles at No.5, a cross-platform launch split between Switch and PS5 that highlights Square Enix’s strategy of blending nostalgia with modern polish.

Elsewhere, Mario Kart World continues to perform strongly at No.4 on Switch 2, while Konami’s Silent Hill F slips to No.6 after its impressive debut. Nintendo’s family-friendly dominance is further underlined by Donkey Kong Bananza at No.7 and the ever-present Minecraft at No.8. Electronic Arts continues to flex its publishing muscle with multiple entries. Alongside FC 26 at No.2, the company scores a fresh hit with The Sims 4: Adventure Awaits debuting at No.9 on PC, while Split Fiction re-enters at No.13 thanks to renewed momentum across PS5 and Switch 2.

Bandai Namco also makes headlines with Digimon Story: Time Stranger (No.14), a PS5-led launch, while Warner Bros. sees Lego Harry Potter Collection re-enter at No.30, proving the enduring appeal of its licensed catalogue. Capcom’s Resident Evil 7: Biohazard Gold Edition also returns at No.29, boosted by its next-gen reissue. Sports titles remain a key driver, with NBA 2K26 steady at No.10 and F1 25 climbing to No.24. Ubisoft’s Just Dance 2025 Edition edges up to No.28, powered by Switch sales, while Assassin’s Creed Shadows holds at No.32. The lower half of the chart is peppered with familiar names. Nintendo’s Animal Crossing: New Horizons (No.20), Nintendo Switch Sports (No.22), and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (No.38) continue to demonstrate the company’s unmatched catalogue strength. Meanwhile, Grand Theft Auto V remains a fixture at No.11, showing no signs of slowing down more than a decade after its original release.

NielsenIQ/GfK Entertainment had this to share about Yotei“Tsushima (PS4, W29-2020) / Yotei (PS5, W40-2025) both debuted at No.1 on the UK All Formats physical box software charts, NielsenIQ/GfK Entertainment. Ghost of Yotei is currently the 4th best All Format Week 1 in 2025, behind MKW, EAFC26, AC Shadows. In terms of PS5 only, Ghost of Yotei is the 3rd best Week 1 so far this year, behind EAFC26, AC Shadows.”

Whilst last week, the Switch 2 share of EA FC 26 was higher in total sales than Donkey Kong Bananza, this week it slips below, with the Top 10 for Switch 2 seeing Mario Kart World stick at No.1, whilst DK and EA switch places, followed by Split Fiction shooting up to a new high point, up 11 spots to No.4, just ahead of Super Mario Party Jamboree, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Star Wars Outlaws and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Bubbling just outside of the Switch 2 Top 10, once more, is Bravely Default: Flying Fairy HD, which has been a consistent seller, alongside Street Fighter 6 (down three to No.13) since launch.
