Japanese Director Working on an Ace Attorney Movie? on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Japanese movie director Takashi Miike has teased his current project: a film based on a court drama for Nintendo DS.

During the Cannes Film Festival this week, he mentioned to The Huffington Post that the new flick is "a very light comedy that I am filming now, a court drama, based on a video game, the Nintendo game DS."

Miike-san is one of Japan's leading directors, better known for his gruesome, sexual and violent films like Ichi the Killer, 13 Assassins, Audition and Crows Zero 2. He also has worked on the less disturbing crime-based Ley Lines, Agitator as well as more lighthearted Zebraman and The Great Yokai War.

Whilst Miike didn't give any names or confirm a franchise, it seems to strongly fit in Capcom's corner with the Ace Attorney series, especially given its global appeal on Nintendo DS, Wii and now 3DS.

Capcom has already attempted live action with the amusing, successful all-female Ace Attorney musical, so anything is possible!

Would you like to see a movie based on the Ace Attorney/Phoenix Wright franchises? Should it cover the original trilogy or a be completely original take?

Would prefer an anime, to be honest!

They should tottally have some of the cast of "Trick" in this Smilie. Trick was a japanese soap opera about a university professor and a magiction who solved muder mysterys, had alot of humor and detective work, a dead ringer for what phonix wright is all about! (Trick came before phonix wright, i wouldnt be surprised if it was the inspiration of the games actually.)

Would love, love, love a Phoenix Wright film or set of films that cover the first three (and arguably the best) games - from Phoenix's pre-lawyer days up until the whole Godot arc. Would be interesting to see if he would do it chronologically or in the same way the games presented the story.

In any case Phoenix > Apollo for this film, please!
