Japanese movie director Takashi Miike has teased his current project: a film based on a court drama for Nintendo DS.
During the Cannes Film Festival this week, he mentioned to The Huffington Post that the new flick is "a very light comedy that I am filming now, a court drama, based on a video game, the Nintendo game DS."
Miike-san is one of Japan's leading directors, better known for his gruesome, sexual and violent films like Ichi the Killer, 13 Assassins, Audition and Crows Zero 2. He also has worked on the less disturbing crime-based Ley Lines, Agitator as well as more lighthearted Zebraman and The Great Yokai War.
Whilst Miike didn't give any names or confirm a franchise, it seems to strongly fit in Capcom's corner with the Ace Attorney series, especially given its global appeal on Nintendo DS, Wii and now 3DS.
Capcom has already attempted live action with the amusing, successful all-female Ace Attorney musical, so anything is possible!
Would you like to see a movie based on the Ace Attorney/Phoenix Wright franchises? Should it cover the original trilogy or a be completely original take?
