With hybrid gaming booming since the original Nintendo Switch in 2017, handheld PCs and now the Nintendo Switch 2, it’s a smart time to protect your rather expensive gear.
One accidental drop, or a frustrated Mario Kart World moment, could spell game over for your console.

Whilst the original Game Boy DMG console could literally survive the brutality of war, more contemporary devices are a touch more delicate in nature, thanks to slimmer form factors and precision components under the hood.
The Nintendo Switch 2 is no exception. The latest Nintendo console that maintains the tried-and-tested hybrid format, allowing players to dip into video games on the go. To mitigate the prospect of accidentally shattering your Switch 2 hopes and dreams, Jsaux is on hand to help reduce impact and damage.
Jsaux Shock-Absorbent Storage Case for Switch 2
Crafted from semi-transparent, black plastic, this storage case is designed to take on the brunt of accidental impact. The Switch 2 slots neatly into place, with space for up to 10 cartridges and a low-profile form factor.

The console does have a fair bit of buttons and sticks protruding in all directions, and this case handles it well with spacious cutouts. The last thing players don’t want are their delicate Joy-Con sticks getting knocked around. With this, the case isn’t the most sleek-looking container but makes up for its looks with a secure internal fit.
Once in, the Switch 2 is held with silicone strips to press and grip the console into place. However, these are thin and there were initial concerns that they may not provide a strong enough grip. That said, the console does sit snugly and survived during a vigorous shake test, with minor movement to the side to mitigate impact.

An area that is potentially small in tolerance is the gap between the console’s screen and the ridged cartridge holder section. The silicone strips do provide a barrier, but it could have done with the same strips around each cartridge slot to completely isolate the screen.
Jsaux Ultra-thin Carrying Case for Switch 2

To accompany the harder storage option, Jsaux also have a soft, thin, padded case that’s ideal for travel. It is relatively thin in depth compared to larger Switch 2 travel storage options out there, but isn’t quite as thin as the name implies.
That said, this case boasts a good array of padding throughout, with indents to accommodate both the analogue sticks and face buttons. As with most travel cases, there are also small pouches to include up to ten Switch cartridges. A sole strap and elevated ridges allow for the console to comfortably slot into place, though it is a shame there isn’t a dual strap just to add more firmness to the hold.

With a shake test, there is some movement within the unit, though the padded edges and thick PU outer material ensure there is enough protection. Those looking for a case that’s a little more contained, with less internal movement, could opt for tighter fit options from Jsaux or others.
Overall, the Jsaux Ultra-thin Carrying Case does feel sturdy and is compact enough to fit a regular-sized backpack or carry on – though the hinge strip could use more reinforcement for long-term durability.
