MSi MPG 341CQPX QD-OLED 34-Inch UWQHD Curved Gaming Monitor Review

by Adam Riley 14 September 2025 0

MSi MPG 341CQPX QD‑OLED Review: Ultrawide Gaming at its Finest

Cubed3 recently had the chance to try out the MSi MPG 341CQPX QD-OLED 34-Inch UWQHD Curved Gaming Monitor. In a market overflowing with high refresh, high resolution displays, MSi’s MPG 341CQPX QD OLED manages to stand out not through gimmicks, but by delivering a rare combination of cutting edge panel technology, eSports grade speed, and genuinely thoughtful design.

This 34-inch ultrawide is not just about ticking specification sheet boxes. It is about creating an experience that feels as good in the heat of competition as it does when you are unwinding with a cinematic single player epic or editing a 4K video timeline.

Design, Display Technology, and Performance

The MPG 341CQPX is built around a 34-inch UWQHD (3440 × 1440) panel with a 21:9 aspect ratio and a gentle 1800R curve. That curvature is subtle enough to avoid distortion but deep enough to pull you into the action, whether you are navigating a dense FPS map or working across three documents side by side. The matte anti glare finish keeps reflections at bay without muting colours, and the slim bezels make multi-monitor setups more seamless. At its heart is MSi’s latest generation Quantum Dot OLED panel, a technology that fuses OLED’s perfect blacks and infinite contrast with quantum dots’ expanded colour gamut and brightness efficiency.

The result is a display capable of 1.07 billion colours (10 bit), 99.3% DCI P3 coverage, and Delta E ≤ 2 colour accuracy, factory calibrated so you can trust what you see straight out of the box. It is VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 certified, with a 1,500,000:1 contrast ratio and up to 1000 nits peak brightness in HDR highlights. Dark scenes are rich with detail, while bright elements pop without crushing subtle gradations. Performance is where this monitor flexes its eSports credentials. A 240Hz refresh rate paired with an almost instantaneous 0.03ms grey to grey response time earns it a VESA ClearMR 13000 motion clarity rating. In practice, that means fast-paced shooters, racers, and competitive titles feel razor sharp and responsive, with ghosting and blur virtually eliminated. The ultrawide resolution also gives a broader field of view in supported games, which can be a genuine tactical advantage in genres like racing sims and battle royales.

It is also G-SYNC Compatible and supports adaptive sync over HDMI 2.1, making it equally at home with high-end PCs and current generation consoles. With full 48Gbps HDMI 2.1 bandwidth, it can run the latest consoles at 120 Hz with HDR, VRR (Variable Refresh Rate), and ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode). A dedicated Console Mode optimises settings for PlayStation and Switch, and HDMI CEC lets you wake the monitor with your controller.

Features and Gaming Intelligence

MSi’s Gaming Intelligence suite is more than marketing fluff. It is a set of tools that can give you a genuine edge. Smart Crosshair dynamically changes colour for visibility against any background, Optix Scope offers a built in zoom for precision aiming, and AI Vision brightens dark areas while boosting saturation for better visibility in competitive play. Premium Colour Mode provides pre-calibrated profiles for different content types, from sRGB locked web work to wide gamut HDR gaming.

The KVM switch with PiP/PbP lets you control multiple devices from one keyboard and mouse, and view them side-by-side or picture-in-picture, ideal if you are streaming from one machine while playing on another. Firmware updates are delivered via USB or DisplayPort, so the feature set can evolve over time. Thermal management is silent thanks to a graphene film layer and custom heatsink. OLED panels can be sensitive to heat, but this design dissipates it efficiently without fans, keeping the panel cool and prolonging its life without adding noise. Burn-in risk is addressed head on with OLED Care 2.0, which goes beyond basic pixel shifting. It includes Pixel Shift, Panel Protect, Static Screen Detection, Boundary Detection (dims static UI edges), Taskbar Detection (reduces brightness in OS taskbars), and Multi-Logo Detection (lowers luminance on repeated logos). These features work quietly in the background, and MSi backs the monitor with a three-year OLED burn-in warranty, which is rare in the industry.

Connectivity and Everyday Use

The MPG 341CQPX is designed to be the hub of your setup. It offers DisplayPort 1.4a, HDMI 2.1 with CEC, and USB-C with 98W power delivery, perfect for gaming laptops or even charging a MacBook while in use, plus USB-A and USB-B ports for peripherals. This flexibility means you can connect a high-end PC, a console, and a work laptop simultaneously, switching between them without fuss. While it is unapologetically a gaming monitor, its strengths translate beautifully to creative and productivity work.

The ultrawide format is perfect for video editing timelines, side-by-side documents, or immersive film watching. The colour accuracy and HDR performance make it a solid choice for photo and video work, while the 178° viewing angles ensure consistency from almost any position. The stand offers tilt and height adjustments, and the panel is VESA mount compatible for arm or wall mounting. A repositioned five-way joystick navigator makes on-screen menu control intuitive and ergonomic.

Real World Impressions

In shooters like Apex Legends or Call of Duty, the combination of high refresh, low latency, and ultrawide FOV feels transformative. You see more, react faster, and the image stays crisp even during frantic movement. In racing sims, the curve and aspect ratio wrap the track around you, making cornering feel more natural. For single player adventures like Cyberpunk 2077 or Horizon Forbidden West, the HDR and contrast make night time cityscapes and sun drenched vistas equally breath-taking. Outside of gaming, the extra horizontal space makes a tangible difference. You can keep a reference image, your editing timeline, and your tool panels all visible without constant tabbing. Watching films in their native aspect ratio means no black bars, and the OLED’s black levels make space scenes in sci fi films look almost three dimensional.

The MSi MPG 341CQPX QD OLED combines OLED’s deep blacks with quantum dot vibrancy eSports grade speed, and a thoughtful feature set. It is immersive, versatile, built to last, and a serious contender for anyone seeking a ‘do it all’ ultrawide display. It is not the cheapest option, and you will need the desk space to do it justice, but if you want the best blend of speed, image quality, and features in this category, it is hard to beat.
