RUGD Life Outdoor Power Brick I: Portable Battery & Camping Light

RUGD Life Outdoor Power Brick I: Portable Battery & Camping Light Review

by Adam Riley 6 April 2026 0

The RUGD Power Brick I is built for people who need a power bank that can handle the outdoors rather than sit quietly in a bag. It combines a rugged IP67 shell with a 10,000mAh battery, fast charging, and a powerful LED light that doubles as an SOS beacon. The design targets hikers, campers, travellers, and creators who work away from mains power. It is a compact tool with a clear purpose and a feature set that goes beyond a standard portable charger.

Design, Durability and Everyday Use

The Power Brick I has a compact square body with a tough rubberised frame and reinforced corners. It is IP67 certified for water, dust, and shock resistance, and the bright orange finish makes it easy to spot in low light or dense kit bags. The weight sits at 280g, which keeps it portable without feeling flimsy. The included carabiner allows quick attachment to a backpack or belt, and the overall footprint of 97mm x 97mm x 28mm makes it practical for long treks. One issue that appeared during testing involved the port cover assembly. The rubber enclosure is designed to pull back slightly, with the cover attached by a small rubber tether. The tether on the unit tested stretched too far and slipped out of its channel. This prevented it from seating back into place. The loose tether created an obstruction that stopped the cover from closing flush against the body. The ports could no longer be sealed properly, which raises concerns for a device that relies on its IP67 rating. LED battery indicators sit on the front of the unit. They work reliably, although they can be difficult to read from an angle. The overall build quality feels solid and ready for rough handling, which suits the intended audience.

Charging Performance and Ports

The 10,000mAh capacity is modest compared with larger power banks, although the Power Brick I compensates with fast-charging. It features a USB‑C PD 18W port that handles both input and output, along with a USB‑A Quick Charge port for a second device. It can bring many modern phones to 50% in around 30 minutes, and the dual‑port layout covers most outdoor charging needs. The power bank is airline approved at 37Wh, which makes it suitable for international travel. The voltage output sits at 5V, and the unit works with a wide range of devices, including iPhones, iPads, Samsung Galaxy models, and most Android phones. The package includes a USB‑C cable, a carabiner, and a user manual.

Lighting and Utility Features

The integrated LED panel is one of the most distinctive features of the Power Brick I. Sixteen LEDs deliver up to 1,300 lumens, which is bright enough for campsite setup, night walks, or emergency visibility. Two brightness levels allow quick adjustment, and the SOS mode provides a safety option for remote environments. The light spans the entire rear panel, which gives it a wide and even spread. The activation requires a long press, which prevents accidental triggers. The light output is impressive for a device of this size and adds genuine utility beyond simple charging.

Performance in Outdoor Use

The Power Brick I performs well in real outdoor conditions. The rugged shell handles drops, rain, and dust without difficulty. The compact size makes it easy to carry on long hikes, and the fast charging is useful for topping up phones, action cameras, and GPS devices. The LED light proves valuable in low‑visibility situations and removes the need for a separate torch in many scenarios. The limited number of ports may restrict users who carry several devices, although the target audience is unlikely to need more than two outputs at once. The capacity is not designed for multi‑day charging of several devices, yet it suits day trips, weekend hikes, and emergency use.

Value

The Power Brick I sits above standard 10,000mAh power banks in price, which reflects its rugged build, waterproofing, and integrated lighting. The premium feels justified for outdoor users who need durability and reliability. Casual travellers or office workers may find it excessive, although the design clearly targets people who spend time off‑grid.

The port‑cover issue on the tested unit raises concerns about long‑term sealing, yet the overall package remains capable and thoughtfully designed for adventure use.
