What is needed in a good gaming microphone? The sound is probably the most important, and the NZXT Capsule Elite USB Gaming Microphone delivers on that front. Primarily used to record audio voice-overs for this review, this microphone does not disappoint; the recordings come out crisp and clear. The sturdy metal stand ensures a secure stance on the desk, and the mic pivots and tilts on the stand as needed. Microphone gain can easily be adjusted with the wheel at the front, and the front LED not only indicates the gain levels but also shows the mute status, which is easily activated by pressing the gain button.

The integrated audio jack allows for headphones to be plugged in directly, and audio output can be regulated via a wheel on the side of the mic, with the front LED again indicating output levels. As a little add-on, the RGB lighting on the back, purely aesthetic, can be customised via the NZXT CAM software. Unfortunately, this software is only available for Windows, which is a shame because it allows for further sound customisations. It is possible to adjust EQ, noise suppression, and mic monitoring via this software.
The NZXT Capsule Elite Microphone is a sturdy little microphone that easily fits on the desk, looks stylish and allows for customisation through the NZXT CAM software. The downside is that this software is only available for Windows; however, the mic still works fine on Mac even without it.
