Race Day

Now Listening to: Mega64 Podcast 93
Now Watching: Mega64 Podcast 93

Yeah, so the races came through town the other day, and of course I just had to be there. Some good times were had that day. It wasn't the greatest race at the track, but it was decent; it had enough action to keep me going.

Met this man two days before:

The Big O

Now Watching: The Big O

Well, just now I finished up all 13 episodes of The Big O on a DVD collection that I recently bought off Amazon, and I've got to say, it's one of the greatest things I've ever seen.

I remember as a young lad seeing The Big O for the first time, but it's one of those shows where you actually have to pay attention to the story line, so I guess I just watched it for the fighting robots and thought nothing of it.

Then, last year in November (I think) I saw that an episode of The Big O was going to be on at 2:00 AM or so, so I set it to record and watched it the next day, and all the memories (no pun intended, for all of you who've seen it Smilie) came flooding back to me. I had to buy the complete season, so I did. Turns out, they've made a second season, so now that's next on my list.

The whole style is set in a film noir like stlye, and the story line is absolutely fantastic. Add to that giant fighting robots that actually go with the story-line, and you've got yourself one hell of an anime.

I've you've never seen it, I highly, HIGHLY recomend it. But, like all animes, start from the beginning so that you're able to have the full experience.

The Big O = 10 out of 10

Birthday

Now Listening to: Mega 64 Podcast

Well, I wasn't going to be a dick and make my own Birthday thread, so I'll just post some pics of my magic day.

Twas a great weekend. On Friday, I got to go to Babe's Chicken for an awesome dinner, which, if you have a great memory, is where I've been the past 2 years for my birthday. Unfortunately, I forgot to bring a camera to document, so yeah.....

Here are some pics of what I got this year:

Yeah, that's it for now, but I have at least one more thing coming (knock on wood). Pretty good birthday this year; heres to more! Smilie

Scout Achievements

So, who else here is pumped for the new Team Fortress 2 achievements? It's been awhile since they've realeased some new achievements (I didn't get all that into the Heavy ones) and it's been a really long time since they've made an actual Meet the Team; Meet the Sandvich was good (I would know Smilie), but finally, there can be something to rival the dominate Meet the Sniper. Are we all ready to accept the challenge?

That brings me to my next point. I know that many of us here on C3 have TF2 for the PC. I say that one day this year, we all get on one server and have an official C3 match, you know, to have some fun. I think that would be a smashing good time, don't you think? Smilie

Chat Rooms

Now Listening to: The stero in the background

Well, the chat rooms around here remain empty day after day, and I guess that's not the worst thing that can happen. But, then there's the Super Smash Brother chat room. I mean, I get it that it should be used for the exchange of Friend codes and to be able to chat while playing, but the people who go there (the same people day after day after day after day) are complete dicks. Seriously, these guys are just plain dicks. You go in there, and you have to have some sort of translator to figure out what they're saying. When you pop in, you're assaulted with game invites, which isn't really a bad thing (it's always feels good to feel wanted), but if you do give them your code and play them, they'll just trash talk you until you get frustrated and quit (this is not based off experience, I'm just making a really, really good guess).

My proposal is you have to have a certain post count to be able to chat there. It doesn't have to be big, maybe 5 or so. But here's the thing, don't announce that that is the policy, because then we'll just be getting a bunch of crap posts, and that's just annoying (although it is amusing to watch the MODs actually have a job Smilie)

I know this is probably a load of crap, but the people in those rooms are dicks and need to "taken care of". Plus, we need to revamp the chat rooms, for people who actually do something on this site.

Half Way There

Now Playing: No
Now Listening to: Was humming some Greek song
Now Watching: The words pop up on my screen

I promised myself awhile back that when I turned Level 50, I would post a blog about it, and here it is! Smilie

Now, I know that not many of you will find this blog due to the "clutter" of the clog... excuse me, blog section, but that's all right. I'm just happy to finally be standing here as a Level 50.

I remember my time here at C3 as a good memory. I remember joining to, yes I know, exchange friend codes, Wii codes, ect. I'll admit it, I was a complete Nintendo fanboy (http://www.cubed3.com/topic/17778), but I saw what I was doing and then learned to expand my horizons. I know people who say things like, "WoW is the best! I don't need any other game that WoW", and I find that rather sad, sad that not all people are able to enjoy the pleasures of all companies.

But, that's not what this blog is about. Let's see, after I realized my fanboyism (this is before I learned to expand the horizon) I just milled about C3, you know, just checking the news and such. I was never really that "into" the threads, but I did post... a little....

Then, I took an absence from C3, about 6 months. I completely forgot about it. I was off playing games and going to school and doing other things, and C3 never really slipped my mind. Those 6 months slipped by, and I remembered this lovely little site. Thankfully, I remember my password, and BAM!, I was back in.

This is about the time where I started to increase my posting. I found it incredible to discuss the thing that we all on this site love most (or at least a lot), gaming. Now, this was about the time where the horizons started to expand. My brother got a 360, and I had a great time with that, but on the inside, I was suffering. In my mind, I was saying, "How can I like this game and still like Nintendo games? I can't like them both, can I?" And that's when it clicked; I can like them both! I can play whatever I want to play, be it Asian or American. I was on top of the world! Smilie

And then marching season hit. This meant staring at 7 in the morning and not ending until 9 at night. This meant barely getting on C3, if at all, and for the most part, no games of any type. This is where I sort of missed gaming news, and I'm still trying to catch up on what I missed. It's like there's a huge gap in the history of gaming as we know it for me. I missed the announcement of all these games, and then was really shocked and unprepared when I saw them and had no money to get them.

Also around this time, I was pissed. I was pissed at the market and how all of these crap games were being produced for the Wii, DS, and even some trickling over onto other consoles. I kept cursing to myself and wishing there was a way to get better games. And then, another thing clicked. Just because I hate "Petz" with a passion doesn't mean Little Johnny down the street does. This is the time, only being about 3 months ago, where I realized that people should play whatever they want to play. Who am I to deny Little Johnny his game; if he wants it, he can have it for all I care. Am I still a little mad about all of the crap being produced? Well, yeah, I am, but I'm not super pissed about it. I've learned just to accept it.

Oh, back to C3. Even though I joined in 2006, it took me awhile to really catch on to what was going on here. I didn't really discover the magic of the forums until last year, and I'm glad I did. Even though it's a little difficult some times (DAMN YOU 6 HOUR TIME DIFFERENCE!!!!!), it's always a great way to really express your gaming opinions.

Another great thing about his site is the people. We all have our own distinct personality and style. There's the ever so movie quoting/ranter/ deep thinker Modplan Man, while there's also the Peace loving guy who's always up for a good laugh as well as producing them, SuperLink. There's the grammar impaired JumpButton, as well as the grammar un-impaired... everyone else, for the most part. Smilie

But still, it's amazing what the Internet can do. It's one of the most fascinated things ever. Only it can allow all of us to be able to communicate even though we're thousands of miles away from each other. You don't know me. You don't know where I live, or look like, or sound like (well, most of you anyways). And that is a thing of beauty. Even though we may disagree on politics, global issues, and many other things that normally we would have each other's necks for, we can all get together in this one place, this one sanctuary of peace from the outside world, and talk about a thing that unites us all - video games.

Well, I'm half way to Level 100, and what a ride it's been. I've gotten to know you guys and games, but more importantly, I've gotten to know myself (I think I just quoted a movie on accident. Smilie). Thank you all for being here on this site.

Here's to 50 more!

Long Live C3!!!!!! Smilie

The C3 Mission

Now Playing: Blog Typing (best game ever)
Now Listening to: The local Classical station
Now Watching: The clock; can't wait till SNL tonight!

We here at C3 have a mission.

There are all of those games like "Petz" and "Babyz" and "Catz" that all have a "z" at the end. I say we all pick one game and send that company an angry email about how the title of that game goes against proper grammar, ect.

Then, we can start a thread and post what the company sent back in reply. It'll be great. Smilie

Now, all we have to do is choose a game that we all agree on and find some sort of email (customer service, ect.) to send the email to.

All right, start brain stroming! Smilie

Official Sandwich Maker

I just wanted to ask everyone on the site if it would be all right for myself, Keven, to become the Official C3 Sandwich Maker. By choosing me, you'd get free sandwiches whenever you wanted, and I could suppy food during times of hardship.

Voice your choice below, and help nominate me to postion of the OSM. Smilie

Thanks,
Keven

Steam

Now Playing: Civilization IV
Now Listening to: The hum of my fan
Now Watching: The % go up on my new, installed games

If you're pluged into the gaming world, you probably have or have heard of Steam, the online "gaming hub". Well, since Christmas, they've been having a SUPER sale, in which pretty much everthing has been discounted. I must say, this sale is amazing.

Just a couple of minutes ago, I purchased Bioshock, a game usually going for $30-$40, for only $5. I also bought a little know game called I-Fluid. The Steam disciption of the game is as follows:

"In I-Fluid you will experience our everyday life from the eyes of a drop of water! Just imagine escaping a generous breakfast while avoiding absorbing tablecloth, breads and cakes scattered all around; to cross all sort of vegetables cooking in a frying pan without vaporizing yourself; to face thirsty cockroaches and make your way through a Mexican party or to find your way in a pitch black kitchen only illuminated by a firefly passing by. Many other original and exciting situations like this await you!

So look out for vegetables and fruits that can regenerate you with water and be ready to jump, cling on walls and even control humid objects to accomplish various objectives!"

Along with Bioshock and I-Fluid, I got the game that started one of the best series of games around: Team Fortress Classic. As I think many of you know, I'm addicted to Team Fortess 2. It's one of the best games out there; solid graphics, solid game-play, solid fun. I love it, and I've always wanted the first game. Now, it's all mine.

So, now that the holidays are over, I plan to put a bunch of money in the bank.... and then blow the rest on games!

Happy New Year everyone,
Keven

I've been meaning....

Now Playing: Wishing I was playing the Left 4 Dead Demo
Now Listening to: Mahler 7
Now Watching: The itty-bitty screen on my printer

I've been meaning to write a blog about video games lately, something that will express my anger towards the market lately. For now, this will satisfy me, but be on the look-out for another long, opinion filled blog!Smilie

For my dream to come true in the Pokemon franchise, they have to go back to that old stlye of animation in the TV show (as a classic throw-back) and bring back the old voice actors. The new Ash makes me want to kill somthing. Also, they need a new script. I remember watching a 5 day marathon of Pokemon on TV once; the first few days were kick-ass, but as it went on and progressed into the later seasons, it was still good, but the dialoge was turning crappy, and the plot was falling into a giant pit of despair. When it hit the fourth season (I refer to generations of Pokemon as seasons: Red/Blue/Yellow = 1st season, Silver/Gold/Crystal = 2nd season, ect.) the shit hit the fan. It became total crap, absoulte crap. I tried to keep watching, belive me I did, but I couldn't. It was like the producers got together and said,"Let's take this franshise and totally crap it up."

Some may argue that it seems like crap because I'm "growing up" and that I'm "not a kid anymore". But, I watched all of these episodes over a 5 day period, and the first 3 "seasons" were good (mind you that it was starting to fall at the end of the 3rd season) and I still enjoyed watching them. It's not that I'm getting old, it's that it's becoming total crap!

Now, that's for the show. Some may argue that the games "fell" at the 3rd season. But I must say, the 3rd season was one of the best for me. It kept me swept up in the action and had a VERY GOOD plot to it. I can't say the same for out current season. Something about the transition over to the DS did something to me. Don't get me wrong, I really love and enjoy playing all of the Pokemon games (the real games, not the knock off titles they put inbetween real game releases), but something about this new season didn't do it for me, but I don't know what.

It's probably because it didn't create memories for me. I remember that I played my Red version constantly for almost 7 years. I think I have the same Charzard I did when I first started the first game (I would trade him to another game, reset my game, then trade him back in). I remember playing with all my friends and my bro and all of his friends. And then along came Silver. I remember waking up really early before school just so I could play Silver. I clearly remember that I beat the Elite 4 the night before Valentins Day by causing the Dragonite to get burned at medium health, lowering him down into the red zone, and letting the burn do its magic. I remember seeing on the internet one day that they were coming out with a new game. I remeber pre-ordering it and receving that Ruby limited edition coin and playing the game. All of these memories were gold to me. The only thing I remember about this new game is that I got it and became extremely sick, only to figure out later that it was post shock sickness (or somthing like that) from breaking my arm the day before.

I really don't know where the series is going next, but what ever it does, I'll be there, because I love Pokemon. There, I said it. I think that it's a fantastic game with many twists and turns and suprises. I just love the concept, And, I bet you, that when I'm old and sitting in my rocker on my fornt porche in the middle of some small town somewhere, some kid will run up and say, "Let me show you my Pokemans!!!", and I could tell him about how I was there when it all started....
