Square Enix has today confirmed that its flagship series will return to Nintendo DS in March next year. A report over on Japanese website Famitsu has revealed that the RPG-focused company will finally release the eagerly awaited Dragon Quest IX: Protectors of the Starry Sky in March 2009, falling just within its earlier proposed 'Fiscal Year 2008' schedule.
This ninth main entry into the multi-million selling series is expected to sell at least five million copies in Japan alone and will be the first version to include wireless multi-player co-operative play. The game is set to be shown off at this month's Tokyo Games Show and some sources speculate it could also be shown alongside new DS hardware at the special Japanese conference that takes place tomorrow.
