Mario Kart: Double Dash!!
Characters and Course Details


Mario Kart returns as the most anticipated title for the GameCube launches in November across Europe with a return of the frantic single and multiplayer action, new tracks and characters as well as an array of new weaponry. However, an addition to the classic racing sees two characters per kart with a variety of characters now with specifically themed vehicles and the most lethal partnerships.

Cubed3 has recieved information from Nintendo today as the developing team has released official information on the courses and cups available in the challenge mode:

Mushroom Cup
Luigi Circuit
The first, and as with all Mario Kart titles, easiest track to master. Luigi circuit is quiet and scenic track to begin the championships complete with long straights and easy to access speed boost panels. However, to guard the shortcut to the finish is a Chain Chomp who is apparently always hungry! A simple course to test player's skills.

Peach Beach
Themed for the princess of the Mushroom Kingdom, Peach Beach is a racing resort with a selection of vile hazards to stop racers in their tracks, trees, "cataquacks" and an elusive shortcut as the tide comes into bay..

Baby Park
Again a simple circuit setup in a new theme to the Mario Kart series - a theme park complete with a powerful rollercoaster, power-ups and a difficult challenge for each twist and turn require precision timing or Lakitu will be at hand to help.

Dry Dry Desert
A deserted desert complete with ancient temples, monuments complete with whirling tornadoes and malevolent quicksand - a wide and open environment to allow frantic racing action without the confinements of sticking to a set path.

Flower Cup
Mushroom Bridge
A reputable landmark in the Mushroom Kingdom, complete with a selection of bad drivers, traffic and an incredible selection of weaponry complete with vehicles carrying mushrooms.

Mario Circuit
The classic racing circuit returns complete with famous Nintendo landmarks and characters as well as a tight course requiring drifting skills at their maximum.

Daisy Cruiser
Another new environment for racers to challenge - an enormous luxury liner complete with racing above and below deck, swimming pools, dining rooms and tightly placed courses for the experienced racer.

Waluigi Stadium
Similar to Wario's in the Nintendo64 classic, Walugi's version features an off-road track with large bumps and big jumps and also complete with the return of the retro piranha plants and their fireballs - a difficult course to master.

Star Cup
Sherbet Land
A treacherous course complete with a difficult selection of twists and turns in the track complete with ice, snow and collisions with various creatures from Nintendo's history.

Mushroom City
A downtown course with late night antics around the Mushroom Kingdom's major city. A carefully placed route can be used to beat others however the deadly directions can be
misleading, so don't lose track.

Yoshi Circuit
A large scale track in the shape of Nintendo's most famous creature, Yoshi. The circuit promises to test player's skills with tricks and the most deviously placed bends with a relaxing selection of straights.

DK Mountain
High altitude antics on top of the Donkey Kong mountain with large boulders, chasms and a weak rope bridge towarsd the end of the course.


Racers can also use the acclaimed battle mode with three different modes to play over four specifically designed battle stages. Both friends and enemies can be taken on in the heated battles. If not, there is time trial to test player's speed skills on a variety of different courses or the VS mode to challenge human competitors.

A selection of the classic players meet the new as there are a total of 16 players available at the start.


Mario and Luigi
Nintendo's most renowned partnership returns for some serious racing action complete with their classic choice of red and green fireballs to sizzle the opponents into a fine Italian crisp.

Diddy and Donkey Kong
The official Nintendo characters in the DK series use their jungle tactics to outwit their opponents and come complete with a selection of fruit as their special weaponry.

Daisy and Peach
Princess Peach returns as one of the fastest racers in the series with an allied Princess, Daisy, as the royal fatal have a hidden power - any item that collides into them becomes theirs to use against opponents.

Paratroopa and Koopa
Bower's loyal soldiers return but are in the race for themselves complete with heavy armoury - triple red and green shells as special weapons.

Baby Mario and Luigi
The youngest and considerably quick competitors complete with a giant chain chomp to use a their special weapon that pulls them along the course at rapid speeds allowing everything in front to be devoured!

Yoshi and Birdno
The pair have their own kart and are a medium weighted partnership coming complete with homing eggs that crack to reveal more items.

Bowser and Bowser Jr.
Mario's nemesis and his devilish offspring return to cause the utmost trouble on the courses with a giant shell as a special weapon to create a path of unavoidable destruction.

Waluigi and Wario
The devious brothers return with secret tactics to outwit foes and come complete with exploding bombs as their special.
