Nintendo Unveils New Wii Party Info on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

Earlier this week Nintendo slipped in a release date for the upcoming Wii Party, with a few tidbits revealed to retailers.

The Wii's parents have kept the project quiet, and a few new details have surfaced. Much like Mario Party there'll be around 80 mini games to enjoy using your Mii, including traditional games like Bingo, Roulette, and what Nintendo are dubbing "Living Party".

The feature is said to be the major selling point for Wii Party, says Nintendo President Satoru Iwata anyway - something that can only be done on Wii. HMV describes a few these "living" games to enjoy… in your living room:

  • Wanwan Karuta: Each Wii remote, up to 4, plays back a different sound. Which one matches the animal on screen?
  • Hide & Seek : Hide the controller somewhere in the room, with other players scavenging for it using sound from the Wii remote speaker. Hopefully not up one's bottom.
  • Sensitive Bomb: Hold the Wii Remote as if it were highly explosive, kindly passing it round to other players without it exploding
Like Wii play it seems that Wii Party will make its debut with an optional remote bundle, with another retailer noting that a pink or regular white remote would be available. Japanese Wii owners can invite friends over for a jolly good time from July 8th.

I wonder if this is actually developed by Hudson. It could be a case of an internal job, which would explain why Hudson is doing 'Oops! Prank Party' on Wii instead. Puzzling! Smilie

Anyway, this *has* to do better than Wii Music, at least. That's the weakest selling of the 'Wii ___' series so far.

Ah - my mistake, sorry. Thought it was Hudson given the whole Mario Party shizzle.

I'm not 100% sure, but so far all the 'Wii ___' games have been internal jobs and Hudson's busy on its own party game for Wii right now, which is why I came to that conclusion Smilie

I generally like the Wii___ games (well, Wii Sports and to some extent, Wii Play) but the minigames in Wii Party seem to be more social stuff some of those board games rather than "spin the control stick around until your palm bleeds" type of traditional minigames that I wanted. I'll keep an eye on it since it still looks promising.

It sounds more interesting to me this time around then when I first heard of it. I want to know more about it. 80 mini games sound nice!

Wonder if it will be set on Wuhu island??

Sounds innovative

Look at the pictures. Also, Nintendo stated a while back that the future games in the "Wii" series will be set on Wuhu Island.
