Classic Sonic & Knuckles in Fan-made 3D on Nintendo gaming news, videos and discussion

SEGA are bringing back home-platform 2D sonic in style with Sonic the Hedgehog 4. One fan has decided to try something a little different.

The much loved lock-on classic Sonic & Knuckles brought Sonic into a wealth of new worlds and settings including the first zone, Mushroom Hill. Remember it? Thanks to the nifty animation work and rather impressive 3D skills of a dedicated Sonic fan we've got a half-a-minute or so of classic Sonic with a neat lick of 3D paint, complete with familiar badnicks and physics.

This looks fucking incredible. It seems a single person can now produce things of greater quality than Sonic Team. Lulz.

It's all pre-renderd but the animation done amazingly well.

People always give the fangames way more credit than they deserve. Sonic 4 looks brilliant, I don't get why giving an old game funny plasticine graphics is so amazing to people.

You would say something like that. It lessens your precious Sonic Team. You do not like this. You must take a defensive posture. Defend, boy, defend!

This does look great though I don't like the whole LittleBigPlanet vibe I get from it. Smilie

Sonic 4 still looks amazing.

Quit being such a troll, I shan't be wound up by you any longer Smilie.

Don't get me wrong, I hate Sonic Team for what they've done to the series in the last 10 years, but you have to give them credit when they're doing something right. Maybe they'll keep doing it.

What? There's nothing wrong with it. Smilie

What is this 'fix' you speak of? They got rid of the awful mine cart level and replaced it with a cool torch mechanic that actually looks good. That and the graphics look incredible.

Smilie how is this sonic like?

Or SEGA for that matter.

Still...

LOL, that might be the quote of the month since it is true!

Mario, Mega Man and Rayman FTW!!!

Forum Quote of The Month should be one of those regular threads. Though it might just goad people into trying to say clever little one-liners an such all the time. So actually probably not a good idea.

How is it not? You're telling yourself things you want to believe.

It's not true. Making an entirely new game takes more skill then getting an old one and giving it new graphics.

Plus I'd like to see a random fan make a beautiful game like Valkyria Chronicles.

And your point being is what? That is what is called a new approach. SEGA are trying to have some changes in the new game so it is not just a complete copy of the older games in the series, because that would be boring.

I love this thread! SmilieSmilie

Lots of good chuckles to be had.

Hey, SuperLink.. Yo' SONIC TEAM is so dumb that they tried to put M&M's in alphabetical order!

I don't know where you're getting this vibe from, you're purposefully winding up people who are actually looking forward to Sonic 4, why exactly?

I love how noone even tries giving Sonic Team a chance anymore and makes the Sonic fans out to be bad guys. Quality thread guys. =_=

Smilie Don't be so sensitive about Sonic Team, bro. I haven't even been serious since the second post I made here.

Frankly, they both look great to me.

That's part of my problem.
Your posts have had the sole purpose of winding people up, which I just don't dig.

I'm not sensitive about Sonic Team, I'm annoyed that people are being so single-mindedly against Sonic 4 when it looks pretty damn sweet right now.

Wasn't it obvious? I thought your smiley face at the end of you saying "Stop trolling me!" was like, I dunno, I just thought we were having a laugh. Just banter.

Edit: I don't think I even mentioned any Sonic games at all.

Sorry I'm in a terrible mood right now so it's partly my fault.

I was being jokey at first but I srs'd at SuperShyGuy because he's so persistent when it comes to hating new Sonic for any random reason he can grasp at.

Plus after playing Sonic 3 again I am genuinely looking forward to Sonic 4 and I think they're doing a great job with it.

I thought it might be something like that, so I went over to your Sonic 4 thread, and confirmed that indeed you'd been doing loads of Sonic defence in there, and have probably become rather jaded over the whole thing. Worry not. I like my mediocre shooting games from the late 90s and early 2000s, you like your hedgehog-y platformy stuff from whenever. We are the same, essentially. Rejoice, brother!

Martin_ said:

Jaded maybe, but definitely less jaded than I used to be. I like to think my current view on the Sonic series is a pretty fair one. I give it credit where it's due, which admittedly isn't much lately, but I'm going to give Sonic 4 the benefit of the doubt until I'm proven wrong.

Because I see it as their last chance. If they screw this one up it will be a permanent blotch on a series of classics.

That's nice. What's Sonic 4?

im going to enjot sonic 4 as much as the next man but i still think they got thing wrongs I think sonic colours doing a better job at looking at sonic and adding new gameplay what fit sonic just dont like style of the levels

( Edited 25.08.2010 23:11 by Jump_button )

People complain that they're not changing enough with Skyward Sword, yet they remain so optimistic about Sonic 4?
