So I turned on my Wii U tonight. At the same time I came here and saw this article announcing that the update was live. I was going to go into my settings to do the system updated, but decided to check the downloads first...

To my surprise and the system update was already 75% downloaded!

ps. my Wii U says the download is 673 MB.
pps. The eShop is down for maintenance (updates?).

I knew it'd be released in the early hours of Friday morning in Europe. Smilie

EDIT: It appears I skimmed across the part which mentions the ability to change the screen size, which is fantastic considering I have a slight cut off! Wonder if this affects games too. I hope so.

Yes, overscan is very nice. I've noticed the edges of my interface getting cut off in some games, but hadn't thought much of it. Thanks Sonic 13, yes, it's 673 mb.

Just tested the Monster Hunter demo out (Couldn't be bothered to put the disc in for the full game Smilie ) after adjusting my screen size settings on the Wii U. I already knew how much was being cut off, so yeah I loaded MH up and went out on a quick hunt. I can confirm that the system-wide screen size feature also affects games and other software, which is brilliant!

No longer is my health bar squished right at the top of the screen and my oxygen bar is no longer nonexistent. I complained and Nintendo listened. Thanks a bunch Ninty, this is why I love you. Smilie

The OS is much better now. Hopefully the Summer update will iron out the last of the system's internal flaws. Smilie

Judging by the videos the speed of the OS is vastly improved will have to update my wii U to test it out myself. I would say the speed is now at the lower tier of exceptable. I cant believe just how slow the wii U was before this update. Speed of entering applications should never be underestimated. Its the difference between being bothered to check out second tier functions like mii verse and skipping them.

Yesss!! I have to admit, I am most excited about the screen size adjustment. This has bothered me so much since I first got the system.

Working like a fiend isn't very fun... and surprisingly isn't very fiendish either.
